Perhaps not the best jrpg out there in terms of gameplay, but one of the best in it's story and characters.
I never really beat it, I've been 4 yours stuck on a save file, but maybe perhaps it's time to finish the fight, i'm like 2-4 months away from the ending anyway.
Also happy 17 years for P3P btw.

Now that you've reminded me that I have to play Persona 3 on the PSP.

I have honestly ever beaten persona 1 and played Persona 3 for a bit. I honestly prefer Devil survior if we speak spin off other than that Main series it is for me.

Not sure what it is but Persona did not speak to me that much.

Tartarus my beloved. Exploring that dungeon is nothing short of cathartic with turning my brain off and enjoying the flow. I love it's simple yet effective themes, shoutout to that super cool disco floor! , it's dynamic soundtrack. It's also really funny how each version of Tartarus' floor themes is named like "tartarus_0d01" too. P3 is the sweet spot for me when it comes to its themes, its soundtrack and cast.

Good game, but i understand why people don't like this game/Persona in general. While i enjoyed the characters overall, i think the social links made the game a lot longer and also more tiring. You basically spend more time reading than fighting in the dungeons.
Don't regret my time on it, but I don't see me replaying the game any time soon

"A mediocre good game with many elements, Both in terms of gameplay and story. that could be better, but with some memorable moments which I will carry to my heart" - Persona 3

An interesting cast of characters with the same problem of 4 and 5, where only Half of their cast is good and The rest is crap. Junpei, Yukari, Aigis, and Akihiko are memorable, Ken, Fuuka, and Shinjiro suffer from a lack of screen time, and Misturu's character development suffers only towards the end of the game, And holy shit, why does Koromaru even exist?

Villains Bad executed Exceptionally: Jin and "The joker", but at least Takaya and chidori better than Mitsuo or the keneshiro from P5.

Bad dungeon, but better than the ones in 4.

Persona 3 is my fave Persona of them all. I love 4 and 5 too, but 3 always stood out to me more. Personally it's my favourite story and character wise. I must have replayed Portable like 15 times.

Good game. For the first of the "modern" style Persona games, as we now call them, they started off on a good foot. Obviously many aspects were improved upon with the next 2 entries, but this game still has some aspects that make it hold up in my eyes. I think artistically and aesthetically; this is the best of the modern Persona trilogy. I've mentioned a few times before that I really don't like Shigenori Soejima's art too much, especially his newer stuff, but this game showcases his best designs and art style imo.

I always really liked Tartarus as well as a concept; just one giant dungeon you slowly chip away at throughout the course of the game. I wish they'd explore an idea like that again in all honesty. I get for 4 & 5 it made sense for story and thematic purposes to have individual themed dungeons, but maybe for P6 we could get a return to the Tartarus style of dungeon.

What a game. It feels a little rough now, but it's still a classic. I missed out on the original, I discovered it via Persona 3 FES, which had some quality of life changes apparently. Persona 5 really kicked the door open as as far as popularity but Persona 3 started things, plus it was a surprising way to reboot a then-dormant franchise. Killer soundtrack too.

Memento mori and carpe diem, fellas.

Speaking of memento mori, as a motif in P3 it gets repeated over and over in both the main story and the social links to the point that once you notice it you start wondering why there's arcanas in the game besides Death.

Just when you think they're done with it, boom: THE DYING YOUNG MAN SOCIAL LINK

Must say that Persona 3 become a big hit that was both a good and bad thing thanks to the path it ended with

At the time, it was an upgrade of the classic story of SMT but keeping everything a secret instead of "everything goes to literal hell" story telling and more a visual novel/school life with limited time in the middle (something that a lot of visual novels and jap games loves to put you for some reason)

The combat and whole demon thing was also less annoying and faster (Persona 1/2 only problem was how slow it is with the demon talking, something that was fixed in Nocturne)

The problem enters with how much the game (and next ones) got milked to no end. Reason for why the SMT games feels more fresh compared to Persona

I take another Raidou or Demi-Fiend like game over a Persona game anytime. I just find the gameplay of fighting with demons at your side a lot more epic than just summon then for a flashy attack

I plan of playing P3P with mods in the future for nostalgia sake (still cant believe that it took a mod to add Female Orpheus Telos in the game, something that should be in the base game for the female character)

I am unashamed to say I used a cheat sheet with Demon negatiations in Persona 1/2

After the recent Raidou Kuzunoha release, I'm hoping for Digital Devil Saga. Always wanted to try those two games

Used to be my favorite Persona game until 4 years ago when I played persona 2 IS for the first time, but I am glad it got me into the series.
