anyone ever tried handheld pcs , i was offered to buy a second hand gpd win 4 8840U at less price since old owner would get the gpd win 5 in its place but not sure if is worth it , if is still good compared to other modern pc handhelds or to the actual win 5 , would be nice play in portable pc games and emulation despite low time and having different opinions could help me decide and not waste money , thanks

Never tried the GPD systems myself, but I can say results among handheld pcs tends to vary. Overall they can be quite good depending on what kind of gaming you want to do.

(I primarily game on my Steam Deck for instance)

Too big and expensive in my opinion they're cool but I think we're a few years off from them being really good. Personally I prefer android hand helds my Retroid Pocked 4 was less than 200 dollars and it can run PS2, Wii and even a few Wii U games

the GPD Win 4 is the only gaming handheld pc worth getting because it is the only one that has a keyboard

the GPD Win 5 is a joke

I'm using a Steam Deck as my main computer right now. It was a brilliant deal when I got it (I got the last of the 256gb models and upgraded it to 2tb) and it has been fantastic.

Just a shame with these current circumstances, I was quite lucky getting it before the AI goonflation happened.

It also has that sliding keyboard mechanism which looks pretty cool

trying to negotiating to 500/600 since he bought full price and new is around 700/800 now that model , the win 5 istead from what i seen is basically double it around 2000 , so is really a lot better or the old win 4 still good rn?

500 is definitely a good price to pay I'm a cheap ass so honestly I'd probably try to talk him down to 430

Your probably not gonna be able to play cyberpunk or anything but it should be good for some ps3 emulation and older AAA games

thought could being able to run also those actually

I consider x86 handhelds outrageous, because they only focus on AAA PC gaming, like everyone would be using them for that.

I yet to see one of those for 100-150€ that is aimed at emulating and playing light indie games. It does not have to be monstruous, just 7" is enough and 720p paired with 8GB of RAM and 256GB eMMC. If they can cram that in a decent mini PC for that price, they also can do it in a portable device. There is nothing wrong in using an old Ryzen CPU.

The only alternative to that is the Anbernic Win600, and its price is also outrageous for what it offers. With that money I could buy a mini PC way way more powerful.

so at the end can it play aaa games too plus modern emulators , if i don't make a decison by the end on month he will sell it to someone else , thanks

Handheld PCs are the way to go if you’re willing to pay the price. I’ve built and set up so many retro handhelds over the years, modded other handheld consoles, etc.. But I was always tired of limitations. As far as PC handhelds I started with the Ally Z1E but I recently sold it and picked up an XAX. I like the device because I’m always in the go so I like my library with me. Plus I love having the ability to stream my PS5 or my desktop PC to wherever I am. Playing modern games natively is just a bonus.

Aside from Steam Deck, I don't have much experience with this kind of thing. But even with the Steam Deck, I have to say that there are increasingly better alternatives than the Steam Deck.

I would love to have one of these some day. I could see myself laying on my couch and playing them. (Alas, for the time being I don't have a couch of any sort in my apartment lol).
