Halo reportedly being announced for PS5 this Friday

A new Halo game will reportedly be revealed this Friday, October 24, marking the iconic Xbox franchise's long-expected debut on the PlayStation 5. Halo Studios (previously known as 343 Industries) has already promised an update on its progress in transferring Halo to Unreal Engine 5, but has been officially tight-lipped on what exactly is in store.

Gaming industry reporter Rebs Gaming has corroborated and explained a cryptic post by Halo dataminer grunt.api, which featured only the PS5 logo, plus alt text of a red X next to "Switch." Rebs Gaming says the post is "re-confirming that a new Halo game, specifically the one being announced on Friday, is coming to PlayStation 5," and that there's no evidence of a Switch or Switch 2 port. Friday, October 24, is when this year's Halo World Championship is taking place, and a Halo Waypoint blog post previously promised that Halo Studios is going to be "sharing more about what [it's] been working on" at the event.

If it's the Combat Evolved remake, hopefully it doesn't destroy the game's look like the Saber remake did. Any Playstation owners have any interest in Halo? It's not what it once was, sadly. 343/Halo Studios really sullied the franchise.

Halo 4 was artistically a very vibrant game.

I just don't trust 343 to remake Halo Combat Evolved. If 343 made a new Halo game like Infinite or 4 (never played 5) I would be down.

If anything Microsoft should have collaborated with Sony and had Bungie remake combat evolved. It would have sold like hotcakes.

I don't think 343 ruined Halo tho. Its just their Halo is very different to Bungie's

I enjoyed some things about Halo 4. I was willing to forgive the things that I didn't like since it was 343's first Halo game. I didn't particularly care for the Prometheans as an enemy, though. Additionally, the sound of the Warthog (it sounded like a chainsaw) bothered me more than it probably should've. That said, it played well, had some fo the best graphics on Xbox 360, and the Chief/Cortana story definitely had me interested in the future of the franchise.

And then Halo 5 happened. In terms of gameplay and graphics, Halo 5 was very competently made. Everything else, however, was just lousy. From the absolutely awful story, to the same boss battle being copy & pasted throughout the campaign, it was such a hollow experience.

After Halo 5, I had low expectations for Halo Infinite, but the reveal trailer showed a lot of promise. It's too bad that the promise was mostly unrealized. While Infinite is a better game than 5, it could've been so much more.

On topic: The Master Chief Collection on Playstation would be charming but I played that game to death, cool for those that haven't.

Well at that point can we still call Sony and Microsoft still rivals ? anyhow was never a fan of Muh Exclusives anyway but they also should release some Sony exclusive titles on Xbox next to keep it fair in my humble opinion.

My first instinct was "just remake Marathon, since the OG Halo trilogy was just a remake of those games!"

I don't understand why—if the rumor is true—they need to remake a game that has already been remade. Just port MCC over to PS5, fix some of the long standing issues with it and be done. In whichever case, I have no confidence in 343 to release a truly good Halo game based on their track record.
