In the start of the year I started playing a bunch of "older" games because of work and time, couldn't get my head to buy any new games or play a 150+ hour jrpg, and wanted to experiment more on the 2000's era of JRPGs because I didn't play much of them that wasn't the main ones (persona 3 and 4 for example), so tried .hack Infestation... man Idk if the game is slow to open but I had such a boring experience in the first 2 hours of the game that I didn't open it after that, do you guys recommend playing the G.Us first or just trying it more? Or IDK giving up lmao

i want a dmc .hack game/mmo managed by an ai that creates content for it.

I love the original .hack games. I've played through them all, even own them for real. Same with G.U but I haven't played through all of G.U. Maybe it's down to different tastes in games? I like diving into a dungeon, fighting enemies, getting the treasure, and repeating. The story is great too. A more robust real time combat system would of blown my mind though, for sure. Instead of the basically turn-based real time combat. (Which I don't hate either, mind you)

.hack G.U is great, basically a sequel of the original 4 games, but the good thing is that aside from some references you can still enjoy the G.U games and they are more action than the 4 Kite games, a lot more. If you like the Naruto Ultimate Ninja games like 4 and 5 you are going to enjoy .hack G.U.

I dont think is a good idea to play G.U. before the main ones, you will find it even slower

Play the first ones with the open mind that it was planned to emulate an online game that got upgraded in G.U. by a lot

The story is actually good once you get in the middle after the reveals start to come in (nothing amazing, but still)

Like i said, unless you want to make it worse, play the Kite games first before you go for Haseo games

The pc version of G.U. adds an extra episode with its own little story, but it was sad how they made it so easy when hands down almost everyone will go to import their save with the super boss beated at max level

Only to beat the new bosses easy even if you are playing with Haseo and the "new" character that joins the team

You should watch .hack//Sign and the single episodes that come with each game too! It gives a little more info into The World. You'll see tons of locations that you'll also see in game and get a little more backstory in general to the universe you're in

Also see //Roots if you want to know the whole backstory of Haseo and why he spends most of the game angry

Legend of Twilight.... em..... only if you want to see more about .Hack. But that one even fans are mixed about it

I like dothack IMOQ but has some pacing issues and the formula is very repetitive(although to be fair, Tail Concerto and Silent Bomber aren't know for have variety in the gameplay)

thankfully, the discs aren't very long and you can finish one of the discs in like 20-25 hours

Is the music in the game as good as the anime?

No, but it's not bad. Nothing can top the anime ost. Music in-game is alot of technoish videogamey stuff
Thank you! That's what has always made me curious about the game because I like the anime ost. I love the song b.t. so much! I'm not surprised the game ost doesn't compete.
I might give the game a try, but I now think I have asked this before (getting deja vu) and I still haven't played it >_<

I have to preface this with the admission that I really enjoy the story and atmosphere of the .hack series.
However, playing the games can be a bit of a chore.
Especially once it becomes necessary to farm Virus Cores to unlock the next story dungeons.

The added grind of virus cores was pretty rough at times
