Pre-orders begin on June 25th.

I guess it looks good?

By now I've seen so many fakes that I hardly even cared about what the official art would look like.

we have seen variations of that exact same cover for over 20 years now.

Yep. I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing, though.
Brand recognition and all that, I guess.

It's looks good, but it's also too "safe" — we have seen variations of that exact same cover for over 20 years now.

I wish they'd try some different for games that take ages to develop.
Is a signature. A GTA isn't a GTA without that cover.
And like Aldia said, isn't a necessarily a bad thing

I'm not saying it's a bad thing, I'm saying it's boring... And really ironic, in a way.

I mean, you have a game about fucking the rules that seems scared of moving an inch from its comfort zone.

Very good news, I'm guessing a new trailer for next week, probably on that per-orders are open date of the 25th.

thats just real lazy....fine , but lazy - just like the setting ....america.....again. 13 years or so since the last one and they couldn't pick more then one country to put it in. i was a huge gta fan since the original came out but at this stage with them probably putting out the same old thing again and with many of the original creators gone - i hope it fails as rockstar needs to be taught a lesson. cover art is the blandest so far.

I can agree with that but we have how the game results even i am not a fan of the realism that the series started to include since GTA IV

While I totally defend the "brand recognition" argument I'd also say that at that point people are no longer buying a GTA game for its cover anymore...

They could've even made the cover minimalistic and people would've still bought it.

As if the Zelda series kept their golden background for their cover art (which was basically the ones from Zelda 1 to Ocarina of Time before MM changed it to black then Wind Waker came with a new style).

I liked the parody for Asterix & Obelix XXL2

Pre-order date announcements are dumb. We're in a digital age where nothing's running out of stock. All anyone cares about is the release date and the price.
yeah, they didn’t even tease pre-order exclusives or bundles or anything.

and a cover reveal for a Grand Theft Auto game is kinda silly at this point unless it’s bucking the trend.

That is very true, guess it's just to generate that hype obviously,

oh and I don't think the cover is lazy at all, they had an artist do that, which we can all appreciate does take time. The collage design is simply sticking to tradition which shows respect for the IP if anything. also as a bonus this helps artistically as you catalog these titles physically and appreciate the consistency.

That’s true. Although I will say the EU cover for Grand Theft Auto III would’ve set an awesome trend if that caught on.

As I thought, since the cover art of various pictures becomes an tradition in the series since the original Grand Theft Auto 3. The two Stories installments(Liberty City and Vice City) also have their own.
