Yeah, it's packed to the brim with product placement and inspirational underdog cliches, but the director Neill Blomkamp was clearly having a lot of fun adapting the game into live action. The racing sequences, which have aspects from the game like follow lines overlaid over live action tracks, are incredibly immersive.

I see it features orlando bloom
He looks weird to me when he isn't in legolas costume
Eh, Orlando Bloom is just kinda.....there. He doesn't actually do much beyond set up the event. The real standout is David Harbour. He plays a cliche archetype (the grizzled mentor to the rookie), but he plays it really well.

Glad you like it, but I have no interest in it. I know there is an audience for this film, and that's okay with me.
Well, I recently been getting back into the series (I may have to post a review of GT4 in the near future. Definitely the best GT game).

I've heard a lot of good things about this movie, but I still feel kinda weird to the decision make a movie from fricking Gran Turismo, it's like the most difficult thing to adapt to any media.
Anyway, I want to watch it, hope it's good.

Well, they pull it off by blending the video game with a 'based on a true story' underdog sports movie.

I loved it too. And I have zero intestest in the racing games, I only watched it because my wife wanted to see it at the movies. It turned way better than I could imagine and the soundtrack is excellent

I could tell the director was having a lot of fun making this. The video game CGI elevates an otherwise by-the-numbers underdog sports movie.
