Good Endings That Are Worse Than The Bad Endings

Actually, it's even worst due to the fact that the game basically presents her first front and center without you telling about the others. You quite literally would not know there would be other options unless you just so happen to reject Yumi to explore or you played the game already to know about this.

It doesn't help that one of the other potential party members (Read: REIKO) has the exact same route just with extra story bits and an exclusive final dungeon on top of it. (It wasn't worth going through the domain of Sloth.) At least you get explore the Domain of Wrath exclusively in the Charlie route despite the fact that don't even save the school in that route. At least, you can kick Hazuma's ass in the Akira route and that's canon to the Persona series and provides a reason on why the school end up stranded in limbo hell. The Yumi route quite literally is a net-negative to If in every way.
Yumi is very charismatic and a great companion, but I don't regret that because she was wasted to intentionally frustrate the players (and motivate them to follow other routes).

I think the problem - if you can call it that - is that bad endings are universally more interesting than good ones.

It's really no match for the vast majority of games out there.

STALKER SoC

your MC Strelok/Marked One finds out the Zone is controlled by a collective consciousness of scientists in stasis chambers who've been stabilizing the anomalies and mutants to stay within. You killed them all. This result in the Zone growing out of control, and it's quite telling in the Strelok route ending of STALKER 2 it ends with him taking their vacant place in the chambers and locking down the Zone and all its intruders inside for good.

Metro 2033s good ending is non canon. The games story explains that the bad ending is what leads to the sequel last light. I think it has a way cooler ending imo even though it's pretty dark.

Not sure If this counts The "Bad ending" of Harvester where you
become what you always were, Is the best and Intended/canonical ending, plus you get to pull off a fatality that Sub-Zero would approve of.

But the "Good ending"
Is here you end up spending the last of your five minutes of your life In the simulation (Which will feel like a life time) just to deny the group another serial killer, which a terrible Idea because Harvest Is a terrible place to live.

A longplay If you're curious but don't want to buy/play through It.
yeah... that game was an infamous satire of the excessive violence in videogames at the time, so it makes sense you won't have a happy conclusion to the story.
