I didn't know CD Projekt Red had anything to do with GOG, but it makes way too much sense that they do — they have been champions of preservation since the very beginning.

Yep, GOG was originally created and owned by them in 2008. With them recently going privately owned by CD Projekt Red co-founder, Michal Kicinski.

And yes most of the games that i tried there i bought there on steam Like Jagged Alliance 3 Kingdom Come Deliverance Disco Elysium etc

It doesn't mean a similar site cannot exist next.

Disco Elysium was already uploaded in Internet Archive by the devs because the publisher are fucking assholes

Ah, i see it now.

gog-games was THE piracy site for GOG. They had pretty much everything GOG had along with all the extras and DLC and occasional update patch exe files for each game.

They kept every game up to date and had a system in place for users to request an update or reupload if a game was missing working links. They used multiple good quality file host sites and even had torrents for them too.

If there was ever a game from GOG I wanted I would always get it from there. By losing gog-games we're losing the best resource for getting GOG content for free. None of the other sites are quite as good as it. I used to check the site daily to make sure my games were up to date and to see anything new they added.

Like the manager of the site said in their announcement, their decision to shut it down was a personal decision and not due to legal issues or CD Projekt Red. Probably they were tired of having to maintain the servers and all the issues with trying to be able to keep it funded by the donations they got.

The best alternative atm is freegogpcgames but they use exclusively torrents and don't keep games up to date as reliably as gog-games did.

I mean, with that url is asking to get in trouble. That causes brand confusion and could lead people to think it is the real GOG. Not to mention the fact it is a pirate site.
