A version of the famous Artoria series of hacks, now targeting Ghouls 'n Ghosts on the Mega Drive.

Author(s): GoodLuckTrying
Type: Graphics
Version: 1.1
Date: 20th of November, 2025
Status: Fully Playable
Source: https://romhackplaza.org/romhacks/ghouls-n-ghosts-artoria-edition-genesis/

RB's Notes 1: The required ROM data in the readme is completely wrong, and I can only assume the author used the SNES version's readme template without any changes. Below is the actual required ROM data:

CRC32: 4f2561d5
MD5: c61ff4bcdf10813c74f36ab57e29f646
SHA-1: aab6d20f01db51576b1d7cafab46e613dddf7f8a

Well, even the Artoria edition arrives also in the Mega Drive/Genesis version and the spriteart of the character looks great and thanks for sharing. 👍🏻👍🏻

Just caught a glimpse of the Arcade Edition hack and WOW... The graphical detail in that hack puts the original Genesis version to shame.

I had no idea that the original port was heavily simplified in terms of graphical fidelity.
Yeah, likely due to the tiny ROM size, I believe.

Wait, someone is working on a fan version?

Yeah, an improved version that is much, much closer to the arcade. Something in the vein of the Sunset Riders fan port (Konami really gimped that one on the MD; it's probably partially Sega's fault too).

Yeah, sadly even the original GnG on the Mega Drive don't quite do the platform justice because of the tiny cart size. If you compare it to the fan version being worked on, it's night and day.

Literally JUST played this about an hour ago lol.

Anyway, if you enjoyed the "Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts" Atoria mod for the SNES & GBA, you'll probably enjoy this one as well. Though, the Genesis' color limitations become quite apparent if you're just coming from the "Super Ghouls 'N Ghosts" hack. Character animation is also a bit choppier.
