Oh, wow, what a box-art Gex get in japan XD.
As rare as it sounds, 3DO got a great support from the media in Japan. Maybe because the support from Panasonic? IDK. Not that great support from japanese users, though XD.
For some time, it seemed 3DO would be the great competition for Sony PSX, because they seemed to be the direct competition. Well... you already know what happened, more or less, with both.
By the way, the game was published by BMG Interactive (1994-1998), the videogame subsidiary of BMG music group (a very big music label by then) the music division of Bertelsmann, an important and old german company.
BMG Interactive is a loooong disappeared videogame seal, but they tried to be a giant in the videogame industry when they appeared. They just lasted by 4 years (why? I don't know). But had some importance in retrospect, because
they would be the very first publishers of Grand Theft Auto 1 (in Europe, for PC and PSX, in 1997).

Then, they were bought by Take 2.
The proper parent company until then, BMG Music company, was bought by Sony, in 2008, becoming "Sony Music".
For what I understand, Bertelsmann, the original parent of them all, still exists and created a new BMG record label just after that selling... so who knows what the fuck they did or sell in 2008 to Sony ("rich business, hard to understand" I suppose).
