Genesis Genesis vs Mega Drive which name do you like more ?

Okay, so supposedly David Rosen didn't like the name Mega Drive, so they had to come up with something else. What would you name it, then? Dazzle us with your exotic foreign naming wisdom.

They could have Kept the Rock and Roll name maybe ?? I mean they Kept Roll´s name why not keep Rock´s name? Was there as SINGLE fucking reason to change Rocks name ?? Was it because Stupid Religious American would go OH NO Rock and Roll that is a game made by SATAN.

I was talking about the Genesis/Mega Drive thing, but ok.

As for rockman, it probably had more to do with rock being a slang term for cocaine and there was a huge anti-drug push in the US at the time, but please continue with more anti-american answers to everything. It's not coming across as weird or mildly offensive at all.

Rockman sounds bland and stupid, and the musical context is lost.

Mega Man is more unique and fits better with the theme of a robot/cyborg super hero character in the 80s, for similar reasons that people think Mega Drive worked well.

Mega was a high tech marketing buzz word.

I do agree its annoying to get generalized but I am used to those statements online I am a American with German/Irish/French blood there is enough offensive shit I can read all day long aimed at me ..they pissed me if in the past but now I don't bother they are either people who like to troll or genuinly hate us or confuse the actions of some suits and apply them to all of us.
I would prefer if they have some anger to aim it at those responsible and not towards entire nations.
To make it clear many many of us Americans hate censorship in games and removal of stuff the suits and some nutjobs disliked so don't lump us in with them.
We are all gamers here regardless of nationality and we have to suffer trough the same shit.

Vocally I'm used to say Mega Drive but literally I prefer Genesis because it requires less key presses and less different letters to input on the keyboard.

Also because I assume most english speaking people are from North America so I get understood more easily (I almost never say SFC/Super Famicom since not everyone would get that it's the SNES/Super NES).

Nintendo America was overboard about it but in the same way many things considered as normal in Japan wouldn't have been acceptable even in Europe because of the cultural differences.

Mega drive was what most of the world used even Japan where it came from called it Mega Doraibu. So why change it just call it mega drive as the most of the world.

And no it´s not anti-American it´s just rest of the world is kind of dead sick of Americans always thinking they are center of the world the best in the world and always have to things in their way. It´s just weird.

Honestly, I am more use to Genesis because my friends and their family members called it the Genesis. I am more use to Genesis but when I am talking things from stuff like different regions than Mega Drive. If it is something like the Sega CD, I would have to say the Mega CD because my friends would always ask "Which one from Sega, is the one that Sony killed with the PS2 or the one that Sega killed in the West?"
