the game deserves more love

Mega Drive all the way, Genesis soulds too pretentious when Mega Drive sounds like what a machine's upgrade would sound like, also i agree the japanese logo fits the 90's pointy=cool aesthetic

Also, sorry... not sorry.
I have to go with Genesis, as the US commercials wouldn't work with Mega Drive.
Sorry aboot that eh
I Love You Hug GIF

but I stand firm towards the Mega Drive the console with a Drive ::winkfelix
well the Mega Drive commercial in Europa was certainly something.

Genesis does not sound half bad either
yet I do prefer Mega Drive I wished Sega would have continued to make consoles but oh well.
We can't have good things can we eh ?

Would have been better for the console market with more competition eh.

Ya...
I miss SEGA as a console company, but they kind of shot themselves in the foot with bad marketing and, quite frankly, trying to overshadow Nintendo and Sony at the time. They rushed stuff out months apart instead of letting the previous system have time to make its sales and make its Money back for them

Honestly, a lot of SEGA's stuff was a bit too far ahead of its time.

The online feature with the Dreamcast, and if I'm not mistaken, the Saturn had or was planned to have online capability. However, the internet was still in its infancy at that point... not many people had good internet access, mostly Dial-up/56k. Like with the Dreamcast, not everyone had a compatible ISP to connect with their web disc, as far as I understand.

Again, SEGA was great at innovating, but it was just too early for it to be truly useful or profitable.

Which sucks big time especially as the Dreamcast was such a sick console but oh well...its just that they wasted to much time releasing ad on after ad on for the Mega Drive wich barely anyone bought.
And the She Saturn sadly was done very bad here in Europe especially the cover.
Bad marketing certainly can destroy a good console

sadly its very hard to enter the console market for new companies and they rather focus on new handhelds anyway so its Nintendo and Sony left as Microsoft seems to have given up on this market.
So Greedy vs Greedy with more lawyers I guess.

Ya.... you would have to have some big, majorly known household name company come out with a new game console at this point in time.

And even then, if they had some of the best first-party games, no guarantee it would be a success. Nintendo, SONY, and Microsoft are so well known and ingrained in our day to day lives, it would almost be corporate suicide to try to enter the market now. Even if, say, Apple tried, it would probably bomb. Regardless of Apple fans numbering in the tens of hundreds (yes, I'm making a jab at Apple here) the only companies I could think of would be, say, Bethesda Game Studios.... If they released a console, it might, and I mean might, do well on name recognition alone... so long as they named it the "It Just Works Box" or "The Toddcade"

Like VALVe with the new GabeBox, err... Steam Machine, will most likely give the Big Three a run for their money, as VALVe is as well known as SONY or the others at this point.

Why did just a Elon Musk console XBox::eggmanlaugh ::eggmanlaugh::eggmanlaugh
come to mind but man he probably would be able to pull that shit off or a Trump System lol not being political here but those are the only once that come to mind who actually could pull something off like entering the console market.
Any other people in mind with the money and name recognition who actually could pull something off like that if they wanted it ?

Sorry for the double posting....

Anyway, and if VALVe REALLY wants to stick it to SONY/MS/Nintendo, with the PC component price hikes, if they keep the new Steam Machine reasonably priced, their sales will basically kick all three of the others square in the nuts...

Yes, they'll lose money on the systems, but rake in tons on game sales alone, and as most console makers like Sony take a hit on the hardware anyway and make the money back on game sales.
Valve, I know, doesn't have infinite money, but they aren't some little third-party hardware and software manufacturer either, that are struggling to make it. They are pretty high up there market-wise.

I do hope the new Steam Machine knocks Sony/MS/Nintendo off there high horses

We missed out on the Sega Tomahawk
Honestly, if it had been named the Tomahawk, people now would whine, bitch, and moan that it was making fun of Indians or some other BS because if it had been named the Sega Tomahawk, you know, a lot of Wild West and Indian imagery would have been used then.

Also give it to America coming up with shit names I mean look at my boy mega man which is a stupid name Rock and Roll was a prefect name and I mean Roll is still called Roll but Rock changed to Mega man. That´s just stupid.
Okay, so supposedly David Rosen didn't like the name Mega Drive, so they had to come up with something else. What would you name it, then? Dazzle us with your exotic foreign naming wisdom.

They should have kept the name Mega Drive in all regions. I don't understand why they didn't. My only complaint with the name Mega Drive and Genesis is they are not named after planets. Also "Super Famicom, Sega Mega Drive." in my opinion would not have sounded as good in "Jucy" by The Notorious B.I.G.

Well, the reason they changed it from Mega Drive in the NA region is that there was a company already called "Mega Drive Systems" at that time, so copyright issues are why, as I remember reading.
