Sailor Moon and DBZ were more or less my introduction to anime, they aired on Cartoon Network (USA here)

Technically Pokemon was my anime introduction, but DBZ was the first show that I got into that I knew was anime.

As for Sailor Moon, I might have seen an episode or two as a kid but thats it, I wasn't really in the target demographic. That said a few weeks ago I tried an episode of Sailor Moon Crystal just to see how it was, and I am now deep in season 3 I'm legitimately really enjoying the characters and story. Maybe its the fact that I'm a big Sentai fan and this has some similar tropes, but it has really gotten its hooks into me. Of course Crystal is apparently pretty different compared to the 90s anime (Crystal was made to be manga accurate, and of course it came out 20 years after the first show), and I think that the 90s anime would annoy me, but at this point I can say I'm a fan of Sailor Moon Crystal, which I never though would be the case.

Now I need to hunt down the live action show, which was just Sailor Moon made like it was a Sentai type show.

Oh my god, I can't believe I forgot about pokemon. I was obsessed with it as a kid, I was -the pokemon kid- to a sickening degree..haha. I still keep up with it a little still. Yeah man, the writing in Sailor Moon is pretty good, characters and such are solid too.

DBZ was just cool as a kid. I knew it was anime because toonami had a whole slot just for it. But it really was the only show I followed as a kid independently (on TV without saving episodes). It was just dope, and it fired off all the cool things I liked as a kid in my lil' kid brain. I think DBZ has a HUGE part to play in people even knowing what anime is.

I am way further than I was as a kid in Bully, keeping up with saving was always an afterthought as a kid. So I would play for 5-6 hours when it was new, turn off the console and forget to save and then just never touched it again. Clearly fed up having to retread the entire five or so hours. ??
