GBA GBA vs DS

For me Both Nintendo Portable Consoles are great and were a resounding success in sales and reception and also that both consoles have their advantages and disadvantages both in hardware, software, design, portability, functions, etc.

I like both, honestly.

I like the GBA better. I had a DS Lite during that era and I loved it, but by the time the 3DS came out I was bored of the dual screen form factor and I wanted a single screen device again. When I got my Switch Lite it felt (in a lot of ways) like a suped up Game Boy and I was so happy to have a standard single screen handheld again (I didn't really count the original because it felt too fragile to take out and about).

The games themselves aren't all that different. Yeah the DS is more powerful but many of the games are quite similar. The DS had backwards compatibility though and I got a lot of use out of that as a kid.

Ohhh a tough one. I always liked 3D more than sprites. Even to this day.

I still got a GBA but i never managed to get so many game for it, but I also didnt have the money for a DS. I got my DS in like 2013, but just fixed it this year (case hinge was broken when i bought it), and there are some good games.

However, I really like the portability of the GBA, particularly the GBASP. Some games are amazing and Im discovering even more, and playing more on it than on my DS.

So I stuck with the GBA.

I love my GBA SP but I have to admit that the DS made things better, like the backlight

How bout both, why are we starting console wars with devices that came from the same company? Also find it weird people are complaining about the DS being "gimmicky" like why did you even get the god damn thing anyways?

DS. As much as people love to funk on it for it's gimmicks, there are some absolutely great gaming experiences or additions thanks to those.
Hotel Dusk and it's Sequel, The World Ends With You, Ghost Trick and more exist thanks to DS being a DS
Not only that, thanks to pretty good design, hardware power and additions to controls, DS is also far better with more traditional games than GBA. Games like FF3, FF4 DS, Chrono Trigger DS, The Castlevania games and more.
While GBA is lovely, has in my books "the last great (fun) pokemon games", Boktai and other wild fun stuff, it had very little time of existence, a very small library, and even with all the good games it is like trying to figure out is PS1 or PS3 better than PS2. The numbers just are objectively way too overwhelming to come up with any other results.

And I say this as someone who had both consoles when relevant. With that I could also add that poor kids could eat all they could with DS if you just knew about a certain word and a Chinese website shipping one to your country.

Guys I have a question to ask you
Which systems is better
DS or GBA?
Based on what grounds?

Software? hardware? impact? etc.

No contest. its like comparing a car to an SUV, both have wheels and move but have differences. this does not make any sense.

Sorry.

I don't think that's a good comparison. The SUV, like the large flatbed truck, tends to be treated as more of a power-inefficient status symbol than something to be used for its particular capabilities most of the time in some regions, while anyone with a working DS will absolutely be playing DS software with it.

on the contrary its the perfect example, as many DS users uses the thing to play GBA games and some emulation.
