Gang of Dragon developer Nagoshi Studios has deleted their YouTube account. NetEase recently announced they would stop all funding for the game, which is helmed by the creator of the original Yakuza.

While nothing is confirmed, it's not looking good 😔

Had never heard about this game.
The steam listing looks like a nothing burger, just some guy in a city

Yep i think it's over
Weird how funding was pulled out when game allegedly was almost completely
But probably some big drama behind doors

Sadly Nagoshi can’t really blame anyone but himself and the studio for bleeding money making this game (and even needing far more then what they already had)

I feel for the little guys who are working at the studio, I can’t begin to imagine how fucked this situation is, a situation that was entirely out of their hands

I’ve read about this a while back, think I brought it up on my Yakuza discord server, was quite a sad night for the boys there for sure. The steam page is still up I think so I hope that leads somewhere. It sucks that NetEase turned out to be as unreliable as most of us expected it to be.

Not surprising since those bastards at NetEase cut the funding. I am just happy Grasshopper and Suda51, and GPT Track50 got away from them, and both are more than financially stable.

Man that sucks. Any links?
Hate to hear it cause it looked like good old Yakuza, before it went full off the wall with RPGs and Pirates in Hawaii and shit.

Just some guy in a city is how you can describe a lot of video games if you just want to reduce it

Nagoshi also deserves some of the blame for bleeding a lot of money making this game, but yeah, NetEase deserves part of the blame too for cutting the project
That game is more dead than Caesar

Love the Yakuza series and was expecting Nagoshi to do something new and interesting when he left Sega. Was surprised and disappointed to see that Gang of Dragon just looks like more Yakuza. Really not understanding the point of leaving a studio and franchise you created to go start another studio making a very similar game. If he just wanted to make more Yakuza, why didn't he just keep making Yakuza with RGGS?

At least the Yakuza series is still doing well. Like a Dragon and Infinite Wealth both have a death grip on my heart. Can't wait for the sequel.

And there's goes an Yakuza successor that I was really excited for.

Fucking NetEase...

if you strike at the king you better not miss

yakuza sends its regards

On the bright side, Sleeping Dogs may get a movie
When idk, probably sooner than Comix Zone and Space Channel 5 (seriously SEGA, where ARE those movies?)

I thought it was a Knock-off Yakuza, i did NOT know the original Yakuza devs were working on it...

This just makes me more amazed that Square Enix actually got Visions of Mana made and it was pretty great before NetEase closed Ouka Studios too…

I was way more interested in this than another Yakuza/LAD. Sucks...
