Honestly, I'll stick with the 2000s Aesthetic, which is much better organized.

Yeah, there isn't money in games anymore apparently. My local equivalent is like 90% a pop culture merchandise shop now.
Funny how you used to get like 10% off pre-owned games if you had a free membership, but nowadays you only get those benefits if you have an annual paid subscription.

I went into a Gamestop a few weeks ago and the place was practically empty. Mostly toys and shirts, and essentially no games for sale that were made before 2005. It was depressing.

Here in Brazil, there never was this store, if there was, and people say that the prices are high.

My wife got a "new" collectors edition game for my birthday from them many years ago and all the paper inserts with the DLC codes were missing. GameStop refused to replace it and blamed the publisher.

This store wasn't expensive for us, since everything was brewed. There were always good deals.

lone shop that had Dreamcast stuff in my zone, and at incredible cheap price too (fresh new released games included!)

@Lod 10 it was really different from now at the time, you would take a lot to check all the games that where there, now it takes like 10 minutes to check if there aren't too many people in the way... and most of times they are just the same old title you would found in every other games shop... or online stores...

I understand my friend, I didn't live in that era because I'm much younger, if you look at my profile I'm younger, but I love that old aesthetic, if I were a person who lived in that era. The first video game I would buy for myself was the GameCube

Games went digital for the most part. Brick and mortar stores adapted or disappeared. Shocker.

You have it good, all the stores here in Germany are gone. I miss this store so much.

Although in my country there are some video game stores that still resist over time such as Play N Trade and Panafoto but most of them disappeared due to the lack of economic support from the stores and also due to the boom of independent phone and technology sales stores that are in many places in my country and also the sale of consoles and video games today became more accessible, but the prices are okay despite the +7% ITBMS.

My country never had video game shop chains like GameStop, instead we had individual gamers run video game shops like how in many countries people open grocery shops but these shops were for selling pirated games and 2nd hand consoles lol. Due to piracy of this situation they were forced to be closed down like 15 years ago, and then they started to sell legit games in supermarkets next to pencils, erasers, notebooks and sometimes they were mixed with movies like they had no idea "what is a video game" but they sold it anyway lol.

This is why I go to Retro Game Stores instead of GameStop nowadays. GameStop lost its magic it once had.

Having been to a Gamestop a long while back, it's wild on how much has changed as it's not about the games anymore with how much merch they have as the games have taken a major step back and especially once they began selling Satan incarnate, Funko Pops. Local gaming stores are where it's at now and always remember to support them during these times.
