GameStop declares the end of the Console Wars

...on the magazine cover above.

Also Ninja Spirit is okay at best, every single 2D Shinobi is better except maybe Cyber Shinobi.
Whatever... I def wouldn't have put Pac-Man (from Pac-Land) and the fish from Deep Blue on there, that's for sure

This magazine is from 1989, most of the best games from both systems weren't out yet. They had to use those characters.
I'm well aware of the year, I was there.

There's better games reviewed in that same issue... Jazeta should have been on the cover

I beat Neutopia and I still had to google that name to find who that was. IMO it's just a generic Zelda 1 clone with better graphics, nothing to go crazy over.

They should at least have called it the Second Console Wars or something. 16-bit was the first real one since the 8-bit era was too one-sided. Arguably the 32-bit era was as well; the N64 did well in the West, but not like the PS1, and did badly in Japan.

The bit wars were all about getting kids to beg their parents for 16 bits when they had 8 bits at home. I feel like after that it got kind of forced. I think the companies involved needed to keep it going as a marketing tool. But now it just feels like PC vs Switch depending on how much you like Zelda and Mario.
