GameStop declares the end of the Console Wars

Genesis v Super Nintendo was the console wars. Anything after is some nWo with Stevie Ray and Virgil in it kind of war
They should at least have called it the Second Console Wars or something. 16-bit was the first real one since the 8-bit era was too one-sided. Arguably the 32-bit era was as well; the N64 did well in the West, but not like the PS1, and did badly in Japan.

Actually... what console was the N64 at war with? Previous "Console Wars" were based on things like bits or power, so the PS1 would have been paired with the Saturn instead.

N64 vs... Jaguar, then? The war with no survivors :r!

you know what that means...

I think those consoles came out a bit before the N64, so it would have been at war with the likes of 3DO and Jaguar, I suppose.

Three losers, the 64 was just the best loser.
<I have no real love for the 64 sorry, aside a handful of games>

I actually enjoyed going to the Gamestop near me (inside a mall where we went to the market, so I was there almost daily), and I've been sad when it got closed down. Thanks to them I built my physical collection of PSP games, used and cheap and often in great conditions and complete with manuals, and I also found many cheap PSVita games; of course, when it came to trade in something, I was very careful and only left my games if I was ok with the price, or else I sold them online.
Though, I can see why many people is bitter at them, I was going there with the 99 cents just to make sure lol

Ahhh... The war on who can spend the most money on useless junk (can't the CD-I join in?). I think that one's still ongoing XD

Gods....
I had a CD-i, remember? I traded an Atari Jaguar for it. I still feel ripped off. But sure!

And Nintendo can deny it all they want. There are three Zelda games on the CD-i and a Mario game

I think that was a good trade, actually, depending on how much life was left on the CD-I's laser (and I don't see that being a catastrophic thing, either).

Honestly, it was a pretty heinous system, though I will give it this...

It was probably a better CD player audio wise than the original PlayStation. And that thing, at the time, had the best sounding audio ever for CDs.
