Hey, I got a Steam Deck at the beginning of the year. Any games yall recommend to play on it? Also ty for providing this forum, its very nice.
Oh you mean like Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania? Does the Gyro just work on the deck? That reminds me Katamari sounds also like a nice game to play on the Deck.Although I've not given it a go myself, i think something like Super Monkey Ball would be a great showcase of a Deck's potential, mainly because it's a game that could have a great preconfigured gyro setup.
Otherwise, I've mainly been playing Elden Ring, Munch's Oddysee and Postal 2 on my Steam Deck. Use it as you would any other linux desktop.

gyro does really just work out the box, or if it isn't already default setup, is as simple as opening the controller profile and assigning an output of your choosing (typically right stick or mouse) to the gyroOh you mean like Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania? only the slightest of corrections: don't use Proton Experimental, use ProtonGE (currently up to ProtonGE-23 iirc)From experience:
-Omori (runs like a dream, doesn't have Steam Cloud, keep that in mind)
-Ultrakill (amazing on Steam Deck except the dash and whiplash. The dash you have to press the right analogue stick, which ew and the whiplash is L + R)
-Neon White (if you're not used to PC like me, Neon White is flawless on Steam Deck)
-Persona 4 Golden
-Mirror's Edge (again, runs great but lacks Steam Cloud)
-Yakuza 0 (might run better on the Deck than PC)
-Blue Revolver (but that runs on everything)
-Gravity Circuit (again, runs on everything)
-Rosenkreuzstilette (again, lacks Steam Cloud but the games in general don't use saves. They use a dedicated password system like the Mega Man games. The fortresses besides the first don't have dedicated passwords.)
-Touhou: Artificial Dream in Arcadia (you'll be pleased to know the Touhou equivalent of Shin Megami Tensei 2 DOES run like a dream on Steam Deck lol)
-Etrian Odyssey 1-3 HD (just get used to using the control stick to draw maps, it's odd at first, but you'll get used to it)
-CrossCode
-Spark The Electric Jester (I've only played the first)
-Ys VI
-Yume Nikki
-Guilty Gear XX
-Skullgirls
-Sonic Adventure 2
-FF7 (only played OG)
-Pseudoregalia
-Hue
-Graze Counter/GM
-Ginga Force
-Natsuki Chronicles
-DoDonpachi Resurrection
-Touhou (all the official games probably work, though I only have Ten Desires)
-Castle Crasher
-Rabi Ribi
And that's everything on my Steam list that I can confirm works perfectly on Steam Deck. Word of advice though? Only use Proton Experimental. Thank me later. If a game doesn't boot up immediately, wait. The game works, its just that some games first play will take a few seconds to get going.
Oh that reminds me of symphony of the night. I haven't played that game but I saw parts of a speedrun.![]()
Record of Lodoss War-Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth- on Steam
A 2D Metroidvania-style game developed under the supervision of Ryo Mizuno, depicting the story of Deedlit and the events leading up to Record of Lodoss War: Diadem of the Covenant. Use a variety of weapons and spirit powers to unravel the mystery of the labyrinth.store.steampowered.com
I am gonna have a look at that list tommorrow. I am gonna be fair I tend to only play shooters at my PC because playing them on a controller feels really infuriating to me. Except when there is like flick stick support. Sadly not many games have native flickstick support and the stick turns further than it should for me when using the steam controller stuff. From experience:

Never heard of ProtonGE, that's new to megyro does really just work out the box, or if it isn't already default setup, is as simple as opening the controller profile and assigning an output of your choosing (typically right stick or mouse) to the gyro
same as with the Steam Controller (not that anyone was asking lol..... the equivalent smelly linux users of gaming perihperals..........and i am one of them)

Oh I am aware of that but thanks for letting me know. Did you hear about Luxtorpeda and Boxtron before?only the slightest of corrections: don't use Proton Experimental, use ProtonGE (currently up to ProtonGE-23 iirc)
If you wanna install it I'd recommend ProtonPlus, you can find it as a flatpak.Never heard of ProtonGE, that's new to me
Oh, one addition. Look into CryoUtilities, it lets you change the swapfile and reallocate your ram so you have better performance and up to 4gb of vram instead of the default 1gb vram 15gb dedicated. Some of my favorites right now are.
Ghost of Tsushima, 30 frames with everything set to high except textures and shadows at medium with fsr quality.
Madness Project Nexus is a great game for deck but you have to tinker with controls a bit to make it play better.
Wolfenstein The New Order is awesome on deck and it's one of my all time favorite fps games.
Heroes of Hammerwatch 2 is a good roguelite action rpg with a snes style.
Alien Hominid Invasion is a fun little game.
Yakuza 0-5 run really well on deck now that they fixed the cutscenes. I recommend getting the licensed music and stepdodge fixes for the games before playing.
Kingdom Hearts is awesome on there too.
The Steam Deck is very versatile and you can get a lot out of it if you aren't opposed to tinkering. I sat through Like a Dragon Ishin Kiwami, Gaiden, and Infinite Wealth on it when my one pc died and although running at 30fps (and lower with IW ugh) it still chugged on through and I had a blast playing those games. If you get an OLED it's a bit better since you have better ram there. I have the old LCD model so it's a bit rough with really demanding titles.
Actually I'll add to this. The verified mark on games I only use as a suggestion. There are certain verified games like Cyberpunk or God of War that for me I never was able to get them to hit a stable 30fps. God of War 2018 in particular is kind of stinky on PC. It has a memory leak on pc that never got patched. Check ProtonDB every once in a while for games you aren't sure of.Generally anything verified compatible with the Steam Deck. But if you want something specific may I suggest some old school FPS games like Doom, Wolfenstein 3D, or Duke Nukem 3D?
to add to this I also recommend any OLD racing games and classic games like re4 2005 with the tweaks mod, castlevania and mgs collections and muse dash, they work really well on steam deckdefinitely shmups and anything that can played at 4:3 aspect ratio (re1 on steam for example), they look better on the deck than my 4k oled tv
it could've been patched up, But for me when I played, The framerate would be fine until bullets started flying and I started boost jumping down the road. Fast paced gameplay doesn't seem suited to the Deck on that game. I play that game with certain augments and such that make it more fun to me but I'm also zooming down the highway in midair while like 20 goons are blasting at me and tossing grenades. I used the Steam Deck setting btw. But they definitely could have improved performance there.i dont pay any attention whatsoever to 'deck verified status' (i'm sure the criteria for such verification is very, very low)
instead i install https://github.com/OMGDuke/protondb-decky and glance at its protondb status and if necessary have a quick skim of others deck reports.
i had no problems running C77 on the deck fwiw, perhaps you tried it at an earlier patched point where deck performance was worse or smth
Yeah its available, but when I tried it using my PS4 controller it was broken for most games that didn't use Steam Input? You always had to fuck around with the sensitivity ingame to get it to work properly.flickstick has always been an available option in steaminput iirc

if a game supports steaminput it supports flickstick, same with gyro etc, idk why general public still does not realize this
