Games you used to love, but lost their magic.

Unfortunately Suikoden and Final Fantasy 7. These 2 have been in my personal top 5 since 1997, but in recent years my interest in turn-based JRPGs has waned. The last time I played them again was in 2020 and, although they retain their charm and very high aesthetic and musical qualities, I'm no longer as fascinated by them as I used to be and, above all, I can't stand the typical JRPG mechanics.

Any of the old gta's, I never played them for the story, so it was open world sandbox role playing for me, but as such they are not actually that good, very repetitive and low on interactive content, I'm so tired of em I don't even get the selling point of the newer entries. The only interesting thing I heard lately is that people are doing sims esque roleplay in 5 multiplayer, which is fun in and of itself, but that's not really the game is it?

Doom Eternal, i had the Tetris Effect with it, so i even dreamed of it and saw it within my inner Eyes.

But than the Addons dropped and i lost my Interes completely.

It wasn't "too hard", it was just annoying.
Did you ever work in a Store? Did you ever experience, that after a long and hard Day five Minutes before closing a Customers comes in and it is the most annoying Person?

That is how it felt to me.
Not hard, just an annoying:"Really? Ok, lets proceed.".

That they put in more Enemies that are only killable with a certain Weapon and the overall Quality was cheaper (Invisible Walls in the Middle of the Level) killed it completely for me.

The Spirits were a nice Addition though.

I also disliked that they grounded Hell.
Hell should be just something evil, something that is beyond human Comprehension and that can not be explained.

2016 and Doom 3 did it better.

Final Fantasy VII. I fell in love with the game when I played it at a store kiosk, and when I got it for my birthday I played the absolute crap out of it until I beat it.

But from my second time on, the more I played the more bugs I noticed that I initially ignored. More breaks. More really crappy English. More nonsensical story beats. Then, as newer games came out, I started to see FFVII as a really janky, ugly, broken mess of a game that was held together with baling wire & prayers.

COD and Assassin's Creed. Was a huge part of my teenage years but now don't care about them at all.

3D platformers with tank controls??? The only one that comes to mind is Bubzy 3D, and honestly that's the least of the game's problems!
Earthworm Jim 3d, though that game is maligned too. In a more positive sense, while not quite a platformer, there's Megaman Legends, though in my opinion is heavily alleviated by the strafe buttons.

the tomb raider trilogy remake has the same tank controls as the originals
that's literally the only change i wanted
Are you talking about the remaster that comes in a trilogy? It has new style controls too.

I guess it didn't disappointed me since I played it first, but playing Quake 1 totally disillusioned me from Quake 2, and I hadn't liked that game much to begin with, but enough to finish. Removed air control and slow weapon switching, enemies that get attacks out after dead, all slow you down. There are also many bullet sponges. The setting was changed from dark fantasy with Lovecraftian inspirations to the much more common metal corridor sci-fi of other games in the genre. The opening cutscene is so boring I still have never watched it in full, and I was a JRPG fan.

it does?! damn i refunded it too quick to notice haha
did you like Quake 3 Arena? it was my favorite one XD

I haven't played Quake 3. I was late to the FPS party, starting with Duke Nukem 3D in 2017, and I never was one for online games.
