Let me guess: you like Mario.

Every Saturday early morning I used to wake up the first at home to get the TV commander, but I got tired of watching repetitive cartoons and series like the G.I. Joe's, Masters Of The Universe or the Power Rangers... Then we got the NES, and completing specially any of these three games became a ritual to me, just before going to the park to play soccer or ride the bike:

TMNT II.png

The gameplay of Shadow Warriors II, the music and cinematics entertained me quite well during months. By the way, I got the timing to kill the famous bird with a single blow at its first strike very soon, so it was never a headache to me.
Sometimes, when my bro also wake up early, we changed to Double Dragon II in cooperative mode to play together, but we rarely finished it because of his bad timing at the latest jumping platforms zones, which made us lose lots of necessary lives 🤬. Despite it, it was a very fun game, maybe kinda ugly, but with that hypnotic feel that made us to not leave the gamepad until Game Over screen.
And then we got TMNT II and we started to get along better, because of the more dynamic gameplay and our coop tactics to beat the hordes of foot soldiers or even the bosses. 😃

The other game I played and completed maybe too many times was Soul Edge/Soul Blade.

First at the japanese version, because it was a very cutting edge 3D fighter at its time and I loved the hard gameplay, the intro and the BGM... Secondly at the later english version to try to complete the Edge Master Mode and now get all the swords (I still did't know that none English was necessary to do that, but at least I learned more about the story)... And finally I got back to the japanese version again because of the uncensored intro and because I noticed that some characters had multiple endings depending on wether you pressed certain buttons or not during their cinematics... So in fact I enjoyed this game three times. 😊

Doom is such a classic, I never get tired of it.
It truly is! Occasionally when I just need to turn my brain off for like, 30 to an hour I'll blast through it. I wouldn't say I could play it with my eyes closed or anything and I don't blow through with speedrunner precision but its nice to just hit it every so often.

Silent hill 1-3
Fatal Frame 1-3 (Nowadays im playing 4 and 5 on ps4)
Devil may cry 1,3 and 5
God of war 1-3
Bayonetta 1
Hatsune Miku project diva (All games except project dia X)

Tactics Ogre LUCT
Final Fantasy Tactics
Suikoden
Vagrant Story
Wild ARMS
Brigandine

I remember launching Crispy Doom for Doom II, using IDCLEV18 (the Courtyard) then IDFA for all weapons minus the keys and doing the level as it's basically a small slaughter map.

  • Legacy of Kain series - i used to have a tradition to play through the whole series once a year. I cannot decide to this day if Blood Omen or Soul Reaver 2 is my favourite of the series. BO reminds me of my childhood and playing it together with my best friend. Those shakespearean dialogues are one of a kind. Then there's SR2 which navigates through the established story so well and and manages to retain progress of the main character from SR. That ending though which i have no doubt was inspired of even copied from the ending Michael Moorcock's "Stormbringer" brings me chills every time i see it.

  • Resident Evil 2 - i think this was first horror game i played and i keep coming back to it regularly. I do enjoy the series but RE2 is the peak of it. Now that i own an android handheld i finished it couple of times again - it is like comfort food or a familiar place. It is a shame that Sugimura san passed away, otherwise i am sure we would get more simple, yet great and definitely sick (just check what he wrote - all of his games are about incest in one way or another) games.

Final fantasy tactics, 5 and 6
And weirdly enough King of the Monsters 2 for NeoGeo/SNES specifically

ive played pokemon emerald more times than i can count, also find myself going back to sotn. also mgs3 is my favorite movie. the one i think ill never put down is the original xenoblade. that game changed me

I'll generally replay the official campaign for Thief 1 or 2 every year at some point, or just as often a fan-made one of comparable size, especially Thief 2X which I still think is the ideal balance in level variety.
Every couple years I'll also usually get a craving to replay one of the Star Wars Dark Forces games, be that Jedi Knight, Outcast or Academy. I suppose DF1 is also on that list now that there's a good remaster.

Tons of pick up and play console games and tons of arcade games.
Pick up and play games are my favorite games to play, so to me, these type of games have infinite replay value basically.
Anything from my favorite beat em ups like Turtles in time, the Streets of Rage and Final Fight series to my favorite shmups like Batsugun, Battle Garegga and Dangun Feveron. Amazing run and guns like the Turrican games, Vectorman, Robocop VS Terminator (mega drive), Earthworm Jim, Gunstar Heroes and all kinds of platformers and action games like Alien Soldier(action), Twinbee Rainbowbell Adventure, the amazing Disney 8 and 16bit games, DKC series, Sonic series, Ristar, Astal (saturn), Hard 'n Heavy and Giana Sisters on C64....many many games. My beloved Pocky and Rocky games on SNES
We're talking hundreds of games here.
If it's not overly difficult, it has a nice pick up and play nature you bet I have played and replayed it to no end.

Final Fight
Strider
Street Fighter II Champion Edition and Turbo
Fatal Fury 2
Fatal Fury Special
KOF 94
KOF 96
Ridge Racer and Revolution
House of the Dead II
House Of the Dead Overkill
