Every now and then I think about going back to Red Dead Redemption for the vibes (and because it reminds me of a better time in my life) but then I also think about that meandering intro and slowly riding on your house while waxing poetic about le american dream and whatever. Dawg I can just read Lonesome Dove if I want that shit it's like 900 pages LET ME PLAY COWBOYS AND INJUNS.

Incidentally, I have no real interest in playing Red Dead Redemption 2

As much as i like Half Life, i use console commands to skip the yapping moments, 1 thankfully only has them at the start, but 2 has some truly egregious moments sprinkled throughout of nothing at all happening with you standing there, sure its cool, the first time, but on replays it gets old very fast.

Every single game . I'm replaying Metroid prime 2 and I'm starting to feel why I didn't do it earlier. The same for wind waker and twilight princess. I think all games have that tedious part that keeps you away from them even if you loved them

if you can, play past the intro and make several save files just past that point; so you can skip that the next time that you want to play it again. i've been planning on doing that with pikmin; play through day 1 and then copy the save over to the other slots so i can skip that the next time that i want to play again.

Final Fantasy X, and later entries.

Which is pretty ironic, considering I've played through the entirety of the series from I to IX. I keep waiting for the moment I'll have enough mental energy to tackle a 60+ hour long rpg, but that moment just never seems to happen. I am so tired. 🥲

I thought giving Batman Arkham games a go, which went fine but then I got bored that earlier games barely spice up gameplay in some way. If gameplay barely changes, then why bother?
I might give them another go again, but I dunno when

No More Heroes 2, I absolutely love that game to death but the Job Mini-Games are in my opinion weaker than they were in the first game. The charm of them being little NES games quickly melts away once you realize that you have to grind the same games over and over again. The first game's Job Mini-Games were quick and snappy, as in the second game requires you to clear stages for what feels like less reward for the effort.
Everything else about the game is perfect in my opinion.

i think the last replay i dropped partway through was Dishonoured. I just liked the stealth less than i previously had. but this was also greatly exacerbated by doing a run with no powers. it was mostly just some particular level had worn me out from how narrowed down its routing was.

something i hadnt played before i keep putting off is Atelier Sophie, which a friend that really likes the series had gifted me. it seems charming enough but i just dont think i've been able to get into the right headspace for a proper length RPG for the past year since starting my current full-time job

a lot of ones
NieR Automata
Final Fantasy (all of them)
Fire Emblem Thracia 776
and recently
Pokemon Platinum

but with this game i discovered the joy of documenting your playthroughs that has been i very fun way to play a game i "kinda" hate

I have so many games in my library I am genuinely excited to play, I'm just currently playing something else. (I prefer long games because if I'm going to pay for something I prefer to get my time out of it).

I want to get back to playing FF9 for the first time, but I ended at a point where a lot of plot things were happening on disc 2 and I had been playing for way too long. And I remember getting very agitated with story events happening (which I am usually very interested in) when all I wanted to do is save and stop for the night. It killed my momentum a little bit and I haven't gone back to it despite really enjoying it.

I had Red Dead Redemption for my PS3 but for some reason it's the only game that ever seemed to overtax it and I've never tried playing it on PC instead. Same with RDR2. I feel I want to try it but I just know its scope and I get intimidated by whether I want to play it or not. Especially as I've never been into GTA.

For games I've never played before, I usually try them out as soon as I'm interested. But with less time now, I have more games I want to play but never do. One Shot, Klonoa GBA games, Sonic GBA games, Disgaea sounds fun too.

As for replays though, oh that happens to me a lot, because I have to love a game a LOT to want to replay it. The replays I have been wondering whether or not to do are Iron Man challenge runs of games like Shining Force and Chrono Cross. I did start my Iron Man for Chrono Cross, but after Serge got owned by a bunch of oversized birds, I stopped playing it for now lol. Might come back to it some time soon.

Games you keep waffling on

There was

The Monster Hunter series

I'm really not into non-sandbox nor non-linear games (i.e. either be sandbox or linear but not outside of that scope); at least Metal Max has a sense of linearity (even when you take on jobs)

I really didn't get (past tense) the appeal of MH, but with the coming of translations of MH G and Dos, I forced myself to try Dos (as it had more features) on the PCSX2 then the rest is history

Now I'm stuck reading about MH lore and tips (for Dos) and watching Felyne and Palico videos during downtime between hunts; if I don't post much here, I'm prolly watching Palicoes, thank you

The Yakuza series is a big one, I've only played the Fist of The North Star one and loved it so I picked up the rest of them on sale. They seem like the perfect blend of silly/serious to fill the Metal Gear shaped void in my heart but I just haven't been in the mood to start them

Similar to Red Dead Redemption, I constantly find myself wanting to go back and play Red Dead Revolver for PS2. But the test of time seems to have faded the shine of the game for me and the memory of it feels better. Maybe I should just sit down a see it through again to the end and see how I feel after.

RPGs these days. Love the genre, but I don't feel like suffering through the usual conventions anymore. If I can find patches that halve the encounter rate and double currency gain, then maybe.

Probably the DMC games for me. I've always enjoyed the stylish animations and how nice the combat feels, but I'm not at all a good player. Every time I think about it, I feel like I want to play it, but then remember how much it hurts my hand trying to do so.
