Pokemon. It embodies so much of what I don't like in games and I haven't touched one since 3DS was done with but I admit that I caught them all many times over.

Super baseball 2020, i hate sports but this is the one game i like in the genre.

Fire Emblem, or any TRPG in general. I used to hate the genre. I felt like it was not as interactive as I wanted it to be. I've since changed my tone though and have a deeper affection for the genre as a whole. Fire Emblem games, FF Tactics, and Berwick Saga on PS2 also pushed me to love it.

Final fantasy II, I hate turn based combat, i hate all of this game mechanics really, and wasnt much into the games lore too - although I still had a banger time playing it!!

For me it has to be the Call of Duty franchise.
It's a generic military shooter, it has regenerating health, the game is geared towards online multiplayer (I never play online multiplayer on any game), the story is always incredibly boring, and all you ever do is walk from corridor to corridor slowly shooting enemies and occasionally hiding behind cover to heal.
And yet, despite all of that, it's FUN to play. Proof that good game-feel can make even a hater enjoy it.

It's no TimeSplitters in terms of multiplayer or Deus Ex in terms of singleplayer, but the Call of Duty franchise (especially Black Ops 2) is damn fun to play.

Oh, that's easy.

Hadn't been a day cold enough here or in hell for me to watch hockey, but I played this all the time back in the day.

Dont know If you could count it, but Inazuma Eleven is amazing. I dont like sports games, let alone sports anime, but for some reason these games caught my attention and made me a fan.

The modern warfare trilogy. I hate Call of Duty with all my soul. but the Campaign in the original modern warfare trilogy it's a exception I found very impresive how well those games run on 360/ps3 and the story was very interesting and I even got the platinum in modern warfare 2 (2009)

I really like U.N. Squadron, even though I generally hate shoot 'em ups as a genre.

The progression of new planes, as well as having health does a lot for me to keep interest in the game as it goes.

I am really not a fan of roguelikes. It's just a genre I usually find incredibly tedious after some time, and I struggle hard to find any satisfaction in completion. Despite that, I have a disgusting amount of hours with Binding of Isaac on the switch. Something about that game really makes me find it so easy to keep going and unlock more.

Candy Crush clones aren't my gig, but Monster Hunter Puzzle has been next to Pokemon Cafe and Vampore Survivors the only non emulator games in my phone

Rayman Legends.

I dont usually like standard 2d platformers, I think what does it is that this one was more forgiving of deaths in that a level and has a lot of checkpoints and also doesnt have a lives system

I also am not generally a fan of this genre, (roguelite specifically, I do like traditional roguelikes sometimes) especially not after playing a good amount of them. Games like Dead Cells infuriate me with how good they could be by having more thoughtful and deliberate level design and balancing, but they end up just annoying me with how randomization has to be thrown into everything so it can be "infinitely" replayable, and how you can lose a run simply due to bad luck rather than much fault of your own.

That said, there are some I really enjoy. Roboquest and Revita are pretty nice, I find that they're balanced well enough so the randomization doesn't keep throwing you for a loop, and they really do put more emphasis into your mechanical skill rather than anything. Roboquest especially has very consistent levels despite them being a little random, which I appreciate a lot.

Morrowind. I hate clunky combat, I hate clunky physics, I hate jarring sound effects, I hate ugly visuals, I hate puny spells, I hate reading, I hate being locked out of progression, I hate encumbrance and yet it's one of the best games ever made.

Metroid Prime. It's one of the only FPS games that doesn't make me blow chunks from motion sickness.

Easily Ghost Recon Wildlands. Literal Ubislop, but Got Damn! I love that game so much, it's an absolute blast, and I've played it consistently for the last 7 years. Another game is unironically Burnout Revenge. I fell for the meme from Smiling Friends, and despite not liking racing games, I had so much fun barreling through cars and driving into oncoming traffic in dangerous street races, It's easily my favorite racing game

I normally don't play a lot of survival crafting games as most of them feel the same to me and very tedious, but Palworld's automation lessens the tedium of resource gathering. And more importantly I LOVE MY BABIES!!!
