Games with a lot of secrets/secret areas to discover?

I'm searching for some good games infested with secrets or secret areas, i mean apart the main path;
preferably some platforms, or action/rpg, metroidvania genre titles

i'm already ok with the AAA series like Castlevania, Metroid, Zelda, Mario, Tomb Raider chapters, searching for something else, thanks

It might not be exactly what you are looking for but I would recommend the original Wolfenstien 3D

Secret areas and whatnot all over the place. Old school goodness.
 
Most logical games fitting your description is Skyrim....and maybe Hollow knight. Between the 2 will take Months to find most secrets.
 
Don't Forget Classic. Yeah, it's a very old Undertale MMO fangame, but this game has secrets that truly shock me. I only discovered them because friends lead me there, and the secrets in this game are the most memorable out of any game I've ever played. It also helps that there is very little documentation of this game online.
 
Way of the Samurai series has a lot of Secrets you can uncover if you're going at it blind.

Each run sessions is arguably not that long too, so yeah happy secret hunting.

Though if you decided to use guide for that i won't judge you, some of them is straight up annoying after all.

If you like Games with massive amount of Secret Area instead Cruelty Squad it is (i know it's a modern pc games don't come at me hush hush)
 
Apparently this new Metal Slug looking shooter Guns of Fury has a lot of secrets to discover, I didn't play it yet but saw it in one review on YouTube.
 
oh yes, i have already played Wolfenstein3D and Skyrim
thanks for the suggestions, reading some online infos about the other mentioned, i'm choosing the next one to play :)

Gothic series from piranhabytes, especially the third one
 
Haven't played either yet but I heard good things about Void Stranger and Animal Well in this regard.
