This one should be a true challenge, here a few from me that come to mind. Of course this is all a matter of taste.

Never seen that JP cover before, must be a "greatest hits" type release. I've only ever seen this one.

The US cover is using the arcade flyer art. It's used on most ports of the game.

I dislike both equally.

The US Saturn template is ugly, but that Alpha 2 flyer art gotta be one of my favourite game illustrations. It's been my phone background for god knows how long now

The JP cover is much better, for sure. Ryu looks kind of effeminate somehow in the U.S box, IMO at least.

Unrelated, but I always thought it was odd how Dictator's stage was in Brazil in Alpha 2.

and I wouldn't have it any other way. Every community has their "Discourse loop" it's just how it is. Be happy ours isn't toxic like some others are.

If the topic is general enough you will get different responses each time. Especially if enough time has passed.

The American box arts of the first two Mario & Luigi games are, in my opinion, superior to the original Japanese versions (but I also like the Japanese box arts).

I can only guess they go for plain white to leave all the attention centered on characters themselves (brand reinforcement), but I agree.

From the third game to the latest release, all the box arts are basically the same as the original Japanese releases.
