So I just bought a cheap usb controller off the internet and I'd like to know some games in general (not just emulated games) that I could play with it. What do you recommend?

Seems pretty great for JRPGs as I often prefer playing those with smaller or simpler control schemes.

i started my emulation journey with one of these when i had an all in 1 pc thought it was the greatest thing ever. get some super mario world and super aleste on the go

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say... probably SNES games

Ok, joking and being an ass aside, probably any 8-16 bit system would be good...

And hey, if it's a good controller you have a great little PSP controller there, or any of the Nintendo family up to the SNES. Hell you could, again, given the controller is good, get away with Vita emulation as well. And heck, a whole host of retro systems, like the TG16 and the like.

Hope its a Good controller and Congrats

2D games in general are a great fit for an SNES controller — unless you’re insane and decide to play Mineirinho, which, by the way, is dirt cheap on Steam.

Every 8-Bit-16 bit games.

Sega games will work too. Just use X, Y and B for the A, B and C buttons since they're close to the thumb.
X for A
Y for B
B for C (For platformers, C is always the jump button. Depending if you set up
the right controls)

Same with Saturn. Use A, L and R for X, Y and Z. Or use L and R for the Shoulder buttons.

It can also work for a few PlayStation games.

I bought the collection of old controllers too, a year now. Never played on half my own, just wanted the games like going to the past so I could see what it was like, even when the games are old, then still fun and unique, try スーパーファミコン スーパーマリオコレクション to spin to the 90s. 🦄 🌻

Honestly, very nearly the entire PSP library. Speaking from personal experience.
At one point long ago I only had a laptop and an iBuffalo USB SNES/SFC controller as my only gaming hardware. Some games are more of an issue to play with this type of controller. I was playing
Monster Hunter Portable 3d on my laptop with a SNES style controller back then. It was a blast.
Also Project Diva 2nd works great with one of these controllers.
