Games that made you think about life

Seeing you made me think about what went wrong to end up seeing your AI generated pfp......

Well but seriously many games made me think about life metal gear solid with "live snake live" and otacon saying he will no longer live as a spectator , also meryl belief and way of thinking was pretty touching and how cold and repulsive snake is at the beginning almost like the player he doesn't care why should you care?

Silent hill 1 lots of stuff from thinking about the the primitive fear of seeing blood it always puzzled me why i feared it the explanation being that is blood is your source of life it's in your flesh if your flesh is somehow removed your blood will flow out the more it flows the less likely your body will function basically our blood belongs in our bodies it's so primitive and simple and unconsciously you know it but i never thought about it this way , the way Alissa was treated was also pretty sad to think a mother would use her own child like this....to get her "god" so so so horrible it was very much the first time i actually felt so much care for the wellbeing of a video game character well silent hill was a turning point in how i looked at my feelings and life the game made me love myself and appreciate myself more.

Squaresoft games always leave me thinking about life with a tear in the eye knowing i finished something beautiful that i will never get to feel this sense of exploration again.

WarCraft 3 how clinging to old hatreds do you no good , how addiction can harm you and those who love you and around you way more than you think , honestly each character have a small wisdom you can pick up when going through the world of azeroth.

Counter strike for how easy it is to gun down entire groups of people yet how fast your life can be lost in a gunfight you pick an ak or an m4 they are dangerous weapons yet you never feel fully safe you don't feel like superman or a powerful being you are just a man running around with a gun until he gets shot or he shoots those who want to shoot him , a gun fight can last 10 seconds and leave the whole place soaking with blood and lifeless bodies , to think this is the fate of many of these IRL terrorism/counter terrorism actions is well scary to think.

This game .

It underlines its dirty and grime-filled natures and consequences that already is in the same vein how deranged and absolute disgusting our deepest and most darkest places and groups in our society is . Often i questioned myself , how far is it justifiable that going postal seems like a rational answer ? One that is extremly controversial and one that actually scares me and i hope its always at the end the most messed up and wrong idea to do . But then again , it happens in our reality and the reasons to it are either extremly bizarre , derranged or even (worst of all) relatable .

We think postal was hardcore but i think this videogame goes much harder and encapsulates the misanthropy of our society much more in its very dry but very dirty depiction that is just extremly derranged and mentally broken on its own .

Still the game is just a game . But still one that is still scaring me a bit .

Monster Hunter taught me I can actually beat kaiju. On a more serious note, Metal Gear taught me conflict benefits no one, except those that are orchestrating it.
Well those responsible for wars don't have to fight them after all.
Its very easy to declare War when neither you nor your Children if they even have any will ever have to go to the front. So yeah I agree

“Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice. Moderation in pursuit of justice is no virtue.” - Karl Hess (and while economically I am on the opposite spectrum of him I agree about liberty).

I think the enduring legacy of Bioshock was it's critique of "laissez faire capitalism" but we can agree to disagree. It's funny because supposedly they pivoted in the sequel to both sides it and critiqued communism from what I read.
Rapture while dystopian shows how undeterred human greed can engulf society in an abyss.

I don't think abuse of plasmids were the problem but the kind of fuck you I get mine no social safety net of Rapture. If they had resources available and a better social safety net in Rapture I think the experiment could have went better
Let me add my two cents to your already great answer.

The first two games explore how regimes with strong, core ideals can devolve into totalitarian nightmares—especially when led by narcissistic individuals.

Andrew Ryan is heavily inspired by Ayn Rand's Objectivism, and the entire game draws inspiration from her book Atlas Shrugged. And you're absolutely right: Objectivism, at its core, strongly advocates for laissez-faire capitalism. While this no doubt contributed to the problems in Rapture (like a ticking time bomb), the main issue in the game is Andrew Ryan's transformation into a dictator within a totalitarian regime. This stands in stark contrast to Objectivism, and by extension, laissez-faire capitalism.

To add to what you said about BioShock 2, yes, the second game critiques the opposite ideologies. While the first one focuses on Objectivism, Individualism, and by extension, Selfishness, the second game examines Collectivism and Altruism. And guess what? Sofia Lamb, the new ruler of Rapture, ends up being just as bad (if not worse) than Andrew Ryan.

Now, I'm not saying any of those ideologies are bad per se, even though I'm very much against Ayn Rand's Objectivism. As I mentioned before, these are examples of highly narcissistic individuals ruling over utopias, and their inevitable turn into dystopias.

With that said, sorry for the wall of text, and have a nice day!

It also showed us that love can bloom, even on a battlefield.
