Games that have emotionally messed you up

I love SOMA, but instead of getting emotional at it, I mostly got annoyed with the main character. I understood the concepts at play far better than he did, and his constant inability to comprehend the things being explained/shown to him drove me up the wall. It's the same sort of annoyance I feel when trying to explain to people IRL why Star Trek/SciFi transporters are not great things and I would never use them.

There are several references to euthanasia in SOMA that profoundly resonated for me.

Far Cry 4 but I'm more pissed than anything, I thought what we do is for the betterment of the country, instead it's a thinly veiled extremist propaganda and there is no middle ground that you can pick. I was hoping it would be like Deus Ex where the game allowed you to make decision on your own.

I mean you can off the surviving Golden Path leader after dealing with Pagan and have Ajay and Bhadra - the two decent characters in the game - take over running things. That's usually what I do when I play it. There's also the possibility that the secret ending near the start leads to Pagan handing the country over to Ajay, who then gets rid of the Golden Path and does a decent job of running things using the resources Pagan leaves him. Either way it's fairly easy for Ajay to be the one running Kyrat when you're done, and Ajay seems like a good enough person that things wouldn't completely suck with him in charge.
