Even though I resented it as a kid, I have come to appreciate my "outsider's" perspective on gaming.

My family didn't really believe in letting us run wild with videogames, so we were limited to whatever Dad installed on his work computer, along with his willingness to let us play for an hour or so every night.

But because I didn't know much about gaming, I began picking up patterns left and right whenever I was over at friends' houses and got to play their consoles.

Man, kids who didn't agree on anything had the same games to an absurd degree.

I must have seen fifteen copies of International Super Star Soccer Deluxe for the MegaDrive in my time.

Jet Grind Radio was on every shelf that also held a Dreamcast.

Crash Bandicoot 2 was synonymous with the PS1, etc.

What other (non packed-in) titles can you think of?

God, what a strangely ubiquitous topic. Sifting through used games piles, garage sales and thrift shops for old games, you do always end up coming upon the same shit every once in a while. There's always sports games, everything from Madden to FIFA on every system from the Genesis to the PS4. You may not find a Zelda or a Final Fantasy, but you'll always find a fucking sports game.

Consoles that have a narrower scope of content, like the Gamecube or the Dreamcast, more prominent and actually liked games begin to show up, simply because there's less to miss. Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Mario Sunshine, I have, like, 30 copies of them from lots. I'm building a coffee table out of them.

Is that an NES Punk reference? Props if so.
Well, I'll have to see what else I have in my treasure trove of references, but at least I made a decent one...

Well I recently got an OG Xbox, and almost all packs include Halo 2 or Halo CE.

My take is that anyone that had (or even better: has) and Xbox it has Halo 2. A little bit less common is Halo CE.

As for my experience as a kid, I was N64 kid, there wasnt many of use and we didnt have too many games, so we barely coincide. And as for the PSX kids that I knew, they always had just burned disks.

All PS2 owners had San Andreas, while all GBA players had a Pokemon game of some sort.

No matter which console they had, every friend’s family had a Lego game growing up.
Lego Star Wars, Lego Indiana Jones, Lego Batman etc.

Every NES collection seemed to have either a 2-in-1 or 3-in-1 copy of Super Mario Bros..

If you owned an original (green-scale) Gameboy "back in the day," you also owned a copy of Tetris..

Every Sega Genesis collection has at least one Sonic the Hedgehog game, usually the "Not for Resale" version of the original..

Every N64 has a loose copy of Super Mario 64 nearby..

Finally, more generally. Anyone who has ever bought more than one "lot" off of eBay has a non-zero amount of random sports games that they will never play..

Nothing. There's always someone who likes something else.

Personally I think ISS Deluxe is a step down from ISS, and though I didn't have Deluxe, I'd trade it in to have ISS.

Pretty sure that every friend who got a PS2 had this one:

The perfect game for sleepovers.

I used to have the first 'Budokai'. Back when it was the only one..
I had Budokai AF the og version 😅

I sold it, but I did like it a lot. Although I prefer BT2. It doesn't have the timed tournaments or the needless aditions to the battle system.
I still need to play BT2 more deeply. But I always come back to BT3 mostly because the story is just combats so for a quick play it's perfect for me.

I can see that. I tend to lean more towards tournaments.

Now I play Raging Blast and Budokai Tenkaichi Tag-Team.
