Just the kind of heresy I have come to expect from an INT build player ;)
Tell ya what man I ain’t been no dang ol int build until like 2025 man talkin bout barbarian and greatsword all ”learn the riddle of steel Conan” all my dang ol life man

Duke Nukem Forever

No, this is not bait. I actually like it in spite of its very noticeable flaws and 7th gen'isms. Would 100% play it over Borderlands 3 or TLOU 2, and the DLC campaign is a deliberate throw-back to classic Duke Nukem design.

Well never waited any Duke Nukem game and it was the first Duke Nukem I played but it was an enjoyable FPS game. I especially liked shotgun gameplay. Even the toy car sections were a "nice variety".

I guess people waited for so long they wanted to want "something" that they didn't have any idea what they actually wanted and they just didn't want to like the game. IDK they expected GTA Duke Nukem Bloodlines or something lolol.

Quantum Break
Alpha Protocol
Crackdown 3 (Not as great as the first game but still enjoyable and looks good)
The Bureau: XCOM Declassified
Lord of the Rings: War in the North
Silent Hill: Downpour
Dark Void
The Outfit
The Saboteur
Full Auto
Kameo
Condemned 2 (Disappointing compared to the first game but still good)
Azurik
Prey 2006
Wolfenstein 2009
Stubbs the Zombie
Two Worlds
Recore
AEW: Fight Forever (Only problem is that it lacks content, but gameplay's a lot of fun)
Risen
Elex 1 and 2

I think Duke Nukem Forever also caught the early rumblings of the first Gamergate when journo's could easily make a fuss over "offensive" jokes, and the iffy launch made it an easy target =_=

This one was destined to be unjustifiably hated, it had big shoes to fill. I personally loved it even if the later part was a bit of a mess.
The problem is that people expected a direct followup instead of a new story. But nobody gets mad when Final Fantasy does it.

Zelda 2 was different because it became a platformer; one of the very styles Zelda originally set itself apart from by being not a platformer.

I don't think Gamergate had anything to do with it. It was in development hell for a decade and the final product was a broken, unoptimized disjointed mess that only saw the light of day because Gearbox stepped in. It should've been cancelled.

I really didn't care about that whatsoever but disliked the game because of forced 1st main mission to serve a girl as a submissive guy for a BS simp simulator lol.

If you develop an RPG then you gotta put a big "hell no" option then, otherwise cannot call it RPG sorry Japanese devs. ::winkfelix Ain't gonna do what I absolutely wouldn't do in real life. No logic for forcing players with that shit.

Taking a different style was something Megaman 7 was all about, and not everyone was down for that. The art style aside, you also had to start on an intro level which set the stage for the introduction to what was going on at a level that was accessible to new fans of the series. They introduced Bass, and featured more dialogue scenes than any in the series before it, and focus was way more on story as well, as well as the exploration and item discovering aspects the series had already been known for. But like I said, some people were just not down for Megaman 7, like as if they wanted it to just continue on the NES forever and stay in that 8-Bit art style every fan has come to know and love.

"The graphics are too good, it should have had sucks graphics!!!" -- megaman fans lolol

Timeline-wise, yes exactly, but game journalism was starting to shift towards what became gamergate; this was the same time frame when normies were freaking out over Mass Effect having romance scenes. Yes, Duke Nukem Forever launched broken and unoptimized, and likely should've cancelled been well before it released, but after all the post release patches and polish (and being reamed by the reviewers) it ended up a pretty fun (in my opinion) game. Naturally, too much damage had been done in the public awareness to save it either commercially or critically, yet here I stan, lol

I loved that era of THQ, they were publishing a lot of fun and goofy games full of character like The Outfit and Saints Row.

Damn EA stole a lot from this game for Battlefield lol.

Doom 3

Even if today has more love, the OG DooM 3 is really good and not only a technical masterpiece. the design of the levels and gameplay is really good, even the new design of the monsters.

Duke Nukem Forever was hated because Youtuber wanted to attack its "immoral" jokes (I see many people like "UHGGGG SEX JOKE!) and many of the jokes went in like with what DN3D has.

Besides some issues like having only 2 guns (that worked really well imo) and technical ones like having to reload the whole map each time you died (on my 360 it took "Forever" wink wink), the game was REALLY good and I think really close to the OG 3D.

It was notoriously tough on PCs at the time (lighting system, mainly), and it was a departure from the classic boomer-shooter run-n-gun gameplay that the series popularized. Instead, it was paced more akin to a horror game. Personally, I think its a good game, but not a good Doom game, which ironically seems to be the trend with the third game of any Doom iteration (i.e. Doom the Dark Ages). Doom 64 is actually a more faithful take on the "original formula," but Doom 3 is still forward thinking in al ot of ways, and if nothing else, different.

Black Sigil: Blade of the Exiled -And I will DIE on this hill... this is BEST 16bit style Final Fantasy 6 inspired GAME I have EVER played. The colorful graphics and detail have a look that is very SNES inspired but in my opinion has more detail than a game of that time... the MUSIC - its banging the theme gets in my head JUST like the FF theme does when I think about FF games- and keep in mind this was a game meant to be on The GBA then because it took soo long it was LATER moved to DS so judge it as a GBA game- Also unlike MANY DS or 3ds games its EASY to emulate because the top screen is never needed for anything but the map etc... just assign a screen swap button. - THE WRITING is as in dialog and character moments is really great... the characters have DEPTH. - OK elephant in the room time... The combat has a few issues...they basically did a Grandia/Star Ocean type system and the issues stem from real estate and action timer being painfully slow. I am not blind to the problems but its good that it keeps you paying attention and feels like it just needed more time to be perfected ALSO a "lower encounter HACK" does exists(pretty sure its still here in the The Repo)...The games tragic protag Kairu the DARK haired hero- is CURSED even when you start battles this is PART of the story not a flaw. YES the rate of encounter is high Yes stuff gets in the way when your trying to run over to a party Member but for an EPIC RPG made by LIKE literally 4 PEOPLE its kind of mind blowing. I am 80 hours into rpg maker 2003 (my wallpaper) a Conan rpg and I cant imagine how 3 or 4 people made this... Black Sigil in my 40 years of gaming opinion...is a masterpiece that was unfairly blasted by critics ... IT IS a 9 out 10 - I have tried to play every Jrpg I can get my hands on since I was a kid- I am 46...ive played more J-rpgs than most people... and for a (Canadian I think? Feel free to correct me) game - It shines in so many ways...Is the plot a bit borrowed? Ok yes. But the magic being the norm thing is fun twist and even though it has that typical - "game world changes pivot point" like FF6(FF3USA) I think its FINE... Black Sigil needs to be REMOVED from its Exile and it deserves RESPECT and a second chance.
