Games that are unjustifiable hated by most but are actually good ?

my setup takes advantage of all the improvements ::sailor-embarrassed it is objectively better than the original.
But by how much to justify calling it a Remaster if you would play both Games with the Exact same setup ?

not a remake, a remaster.
I was confused for a sec there I did meant to write Remaster
Remaster/Remake and so whatever.
In my Opinion just calling it a Port for the Ps5 from the Ps4 would have been fine.

Shadow of Mordor for the PS3 I would say the port gets a lot of Hate but its the Only version I had and I did not encounter any Issues or I was to blind to see them ::sailor-embarrassed Anyway I completed that Game and had my fun with it.

Alpha Protocol.

I remember people tearing it down when it came out, but I had a lot of fun with it. Maybe I'm just a born contrarian.

Life I understand why so many people hate it,its pay to win and needs some serious balancing patches yet you can have your fun with that Game, but it should be less pay to win and really only one Life ? ;)

Xenosaga 2. It has some awesome concepts in it. Also the Shinji Hosoe portion of the soundtrack is a thousand times cooler than the typical melodramatic movie soundtrack orchestral stuff in the rest of the series. 3 has a pretty good soundtrack but I think 1 is Mitsuda's most undercooked OST. Hosoe's synthy soundscapes and textures fit the futuristic aesthetic and are actually interesting to listen to. Go figure people didn't like that part. If you're actively listening to what's happening, it's much cooler than the filler background stuff the other composer did.

The development history of the game being tumultuous and frustrating does manifest in the game and there are some really annoying directions the game took that required the third entry to basically be narrative damage control. But, standing on its own, it's still a wild ride. Yes - the combat was long and drawn out, but a lot of the concepts developed in that game ended up being the template for how modern JRPGs keep combat interesting.

I'll take it with its flaws and pretentious scope over the complacent assembly-line philosophy that drives the majority of forgettable fantasy shonen RPGs these days.
My maaan! Even though Xenosaga lives rent free in my mind I always forget to bring up 2 when these threads pop up. You could argue that the soundtrack peaked with 2. There's some pretty slick songs in that game! And the combat will always keep you figuring out what's the best way to approach fights since it's that weird.

Not to mention that yeah, the history of the game is as interesting as the games themselves!

Scribblenauts is pretty good, yet people hate it because it doesn't allow you to summon copyrighted shit... Like, what kind of argument is that? Besides, you get to play with Cthulhu in there, damn it XD!

-Tokyo Xanadu-

People dislike it for "Persona clone" when it doesn't have anything to do with Carl Jung's ideas or it doesn't even have dating/friendship shit. Even Nihon Falcom fans hates it. And then people hate it for not having turn-based combat.

In reality the game is about supernatural events set in a high school theme that it's very usual in Japanese fictions. I like the way it has X-Files vibe and school investigation team idea was cool.

-Rage 2-

People expected its open world is to be filled with "life" that's on the contrary of its post-apocalyptic nature lol. The game is really a fun FPS to play but they would rather play Super Mario Doom lol.

-Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet-

"Oh another Kirito harem game" and "damn the game is a visual novel" but after like 1 hour gameplay the real game kicks in and you find pretty much best TPS ever developed not gonna lie lol. Character creation + companion creation + Matrix fashion and guns + good old arcade gameplay + modern RPG gameplay = Can't ask for more lol.

-Metal Max Xeno Reborn-

Remake of the PS Vita version. People disliked it because they actually deleted anything that prevent the game from being a decent game. They deleted all BS visual novel aspects designed for pervert teens and they hate this remake for it lol.

-LIGHTNING RETURNS: FINAL FANTASY XIII-

New generation kids who didn't get used to playing games that has time limit hate this game when in reality time limit is there for story purpose, not to cause hardship to player whatsoever. But time limit does cause game over but for it you need to just run the game and let it open for a long time especially waiting for it, it doesn't cause hinderence to gameplay whatsoever.

And then people hated the combat system. It's okay if given a chance. They just wanted ancient turn based combat lol.

-Saints Row IV-

So many people think it's like "DLC of the previous game" when in reality it's its own thing. If you like fun gameplay there is no way you would dislike this game, but then people bashed it for "it has no Saints Row identity whatsoever" but then I'm sucker for Matrix situation going on in this game lol.

-Hitman: Blood Money-

Back then I remember people even made fun of how the agent 47 looks like and the first few levels seem like shit but game eventually gets better and has an epic ending. Still to this day I play this game a lot.

-DmC Devil May Cry-

People disliked this game because Dante's hair is not white and all but in reality it's the direction DMC series had to take instead of spamming new characters to play as instead of Dante. In this game you only play as Dante and it's fun at it. On the top of it he is not cringe as how Dante is since 3rd game lol.

-Fahrenheit-

People disliked it for "too much quick action events that even chairs attacks you WTF" but I like the vibe of the game lol.

-Back to the Future: The Game-

People disliked this game because "it's not actually about the movies" but the game has the continuation of the series. And the BS is people disliked it for being a point and click adventure game lol.

-Redline-

People disliked car combat + FPS action wow.

-Arx Fatalis-

To cast a magic you gotta draw the shape via your mouse which makes the game a good wizard simulator yet it's why people disliked it. Wow.

Idk about unjustifiably hated since the Campaign is pretty rank, but I think Halo 5: Guardians deserves its flowers. I truly believe that this game is the PEAK of Halo's multiplayer sandbox, it's like what Third Strike is to Turbo, AND THE MASSES ARE JUST BLIND TO IT!

I would even argue to say that this was my favorite multiplayer FPS of the last decade. IT WAS THAT GOOD AND NO ONE BELIEVES ME!!! IT WAS PEAK I TELL YA, PEAK!!!

I thought Die Hard for NES was an interesting and kind of ambitious game for its time. The game advances in real time and you can trigger events based on the film at specific points in specific locations, there's a finite amount of enemies roaming the building and killing as many as possible is essential to making the final confrontation more survivable, and there's a real element of learning the map over multiple attempts to figure out the item placements and ideal routes.

Anyway I played it without knowing it had a big reputation as a shitty game because AVGN reviewed it at one point and really ripped into it. I'll admit the shooting is clunky and awkward with the best thing being to get the SMG and then pray and spray your way through encounters, and the fact that you have a "feet meter" (representing how McClane had no shoes and was walking around with cut up feet from broken glass in the movie) is kinda funny but I found it very manageable once you figured out the item placement. I think its better than its given credit for, and I usually don't have the patience for a lot of NES games so even I'm a bit surprised that it held my interest long enough to beat.

NFS Most Wanted 2012. It's actually a good game, but people hate it because it's not Most Wanted 2005. If it had a different name, then I don't think people would hate it at all.
