Chapping lots of asses, but this one. I'd have wanted to play it because its Altered Beast. I have soft spot for Altered Beast as that was the pack in Genesis game I got along with the arcade memories. I don't care if it sucked I'd have wanted to try it then. Thankfully bless our hosts that there was a DL for it, I finally got to try it all these years later. Sure, not so great; but I'm grateful none the less for getting to try it.

I love how they couldn't even align the mouths on the cover art. That looks hilarious.

I didn't like the original Altered Beast so much so I won't play it, but thank you for letting me know this exists. It would make a great profile pic.

Altered Beast PS2 is flawed and very rough in general but it's not really horrible. You can see the potential there, it just really needed a lot of refining. Better cameras, more visceral feel, smoothing out needlessly frustrating parts (the damn final boss). It was the first game developed by Sega of Shanghai, a new studio led by Makoto Uchida (former head of AM1, one of the creators of Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Die Hard Arcade etc.), and I don't think they had developed the competency yet. China as a whole was pretty new to game development.
It's also not really a remake at all. There's nothing in common with the 2D game except transforming into beasts. New story, new setting, etc. It was called "Project Altered Beast" in Japan.
