So I've been playing fantasian and hot damn it has the best feature than any JRPG needs ,they call it dimengeon ,it's basically collects all your random battles into one battle that you can play it whenever you want ,it get harder obviously but the fact that you don't get interrupted while exploring is a bliss

1-Character costumization, like the one from Dragon's Dogma where you can also set height and wieght, but with anime girls and more detailed.

2-Not in every game, but where possible I'd like to see clothes tearing down with every shot, punch or kick you receive, even nudity you can set on or off according to your tastes, something you can se in some kind of games thank to people who create mods on purpose.

I don't think I want to be playing sexual simulator or whatever AGL suggested above.

I would like well polished and smooth mechanics that are well tested and serve a purpose in the game , I would like to say if you are waiting for a video game to make your sexual fantasies come true or get laid virtually then that's pretty damn sad.

Its all about the game do I need over realistic mechanics? No? Maybe? How good are they? I want features for a franchise to remain and improve like CNC economy staying the way it is and not changing ideas the first iteration of the game is built on.

I would like to mention the half encounter rate in FF8 is pretty good feature the feature being to mess around with the encounter rate whether you halve it or fully prevent it , to add something like you mentioned in FF freaking sucks sure the random encounters can get annoying but its part of FF so I would rather prefer to halve encounters.

I also like the morale system in sudden strike 2 if soldier morale gets too low they lose their will to fight and panic , the officer aura effecting other soldiers experience the more experienced an officer is the better the soldiers he is surrounded with becomes.

The armor penetration dynamics of sudden strike , where units have front , side and rear armor its way less damage spongey like company of heroes and makes vehicles feel invincible against small arms fire really gives weight to the tank.

I would like to mention more but those are enough don't want to make this post too long.

I think there's a similar thread like this (link). Anyway, I'd love to capture a monster or any creatures and making it a pet in almost every game

Every single game would become marginally better by incorporating a fishing mini-game.
The fishing mini games always make a game better.

Looking at you stellar blade!

Seriously, I first thought unlocking the ocean maid would be a slog before I found myself enjoying the absurdity of the fishing, especially having massive creatures in an oasis.

Save states should be mandatory in all games.

No matter what I am doing in whatever game, I should be able to save it and return at that point.

Doubling XP to reduce the grind in RPG's should be an option, I get that the grinding can be addicting and satisfying when OP but in some older games it's a massive time sink to the point were I just use cheats these days.

As for an outright gameplay feature, it would be great if deep dialogue trees were you can really flesh out companions in games should become a standard feature, like dating options in persona for example, but not explicitly for dating mechanics, just as a way to flesh characters out.

Not in every game but, I always get happy when I see an RPG game with difficulty options.
Now a feature I always want to see is alternative costumes, specially in hack and slash or survival horror games.

Some sort of features that allows you to remember what you did last time. For example, the Recall feature in the HD remake of Dragon Quest III.
Second this, I didn't play a game over the weekend (from Friday to yesterday) and when I came back I completely forgot what I was doing besides the last cutscene I saw.

Blue dragon had a similar mechanic, where you could group enemies together in an area and the enemies would even start fighting each other when the battle starts.

That's a good game with bad tutorials, and steep difficulty curve if you don't realise that new magic needs to be bought before any of your party can use it.

I wish Microsoft would release it on literally anything else.

I think not selecting difficulty in RPGs allows for a global experience where all players share the same struggle against some enemies making the whole thing more memorable.

As mentioned, the Dimengeon in Fantasian is a game changer and I can't believe nobody thought of it before.
Aside from that, I just really enjoy games that let you play "guilt free". Wanna save anywhere? Do it. The game isntoo hard? Customize the difficulty. Wanna cheat? Sure, here's a code for infinite lives and money. This doesn't detract from the experience of those who want a more "hardcore" experience and can help those who don't/can't.

I think that difficulty is always going to be contentious for this reason.

Difficulty options should always be a feature. If Nioh had an easy mode, I'd probably play it again.

Perception of joy from difficulty varies.::megadancebaby

Video Games did get way more popular during the ps2 era, and with that difficulty actually decreased in most games across the board, so much so a hard game would bomb in sales, this is the reason why Sony declined to distribute Demons souls in the west, as historically hard games typically bombed in sales from the SNES/Genesis era onwards. There's always exceptions but this was generally true.

Dark souls changed all that

I platinumed Nioh and finished all the souls games bar dark souls 3, bloodborne and it's dlc, played the ps1 release of Mega man x3 when it released(Very, very cheap difficulty compared to all but mega man X6 and that only has crap level design causing it to feel cheap)

That all said, growing up with extreme difficultly being the norm for most games till the PS2 era, I always chose easy and I still do as I can play through, experience and finish games faster than struggling for days against a boss ::puke

The most disappointing example of overdoing it with difficulty was getting megaman zero as a christmas gift when I was 12 and experiencing very little of the game, and those are hands down still the hardest games I ever played, zero one and two, pretty sure I have Stockholm syndrome for those games::sadkirby

The ability to pause the game. I hate that the souls games, Minecraft and Monster Hunter won't let you pause.
Games like Dead Space were you think you killed all the enemies in a room and when your sorting your inventory a random necromorph spawns and kills you.
I remember this happened to me in the first one, i left to get some water and when i came back i was on the game over screen.

I typically prefer to choose the hardest difficulty even if im new to the game it creates better experience and is punishing enough when you do mistakes like when you go guns blazing in silent hill or resident evil on hard that isn't optimal....the idea of games or one of the ideas is giving me a problem and handing me the tools to solve it the problem being more difficult forces me to think and plan how I solve the problem and the game rewards me for that in many many ways also beating hard games is ego boost for my gamer pride :loldog

Finishing difficult tasks hits different than easy tasks , its not just about flexing for being a pretty good gamer but it also makes the game more memorable etc.

Sure all the reasons I listed go out of the window if we aiming for sales even then players would complain the game is too easy.

  • Remapping buttons. I want to play the way I feel comfortable.
  • Customizable difficulty. Not just easy-med-hard, I would like to customize more things like combat difficulty, checkpoints, survival systems, puzzle difficulty. I love harder puzzles but easier combat, or would like to die in one hit but deal more damage.

Straight up a fast forward option in a turn based RPG game. i enjoy grindy games, RPGs mostly. Bravely Default 2 and Heros Adventures:Road to passion does this and it helps in deciding which speed i want to have depending on my mood at the time. Sometimes i want to enjoy the animation, sometimes i just want to gear up and strengthen my character and having to watch a 12 second skill animation to one hit kill an enemy can be a hassle to watch over and over again...

this. i tend to drop games to play other games for a couple months (maybe years) and i forget where i am in the game, the controls, etc.

a recap feature wld be amazinnnnn
