I am using PCSX2 emulator, but my MSI controller wasn't detected on the Emulator. I need advice on getting the right controller. does PS5 controllers work or i need older controller?

Can you try plugging it in with a wire instead of using it wireless? Does your PC/other games detect it? I'll try looking into it a bit more but my options are limited since I don't have that controller myself.

Yes, I tried to plug the controller in, and my other games on Steam can detect it easily. I thought it might be that the emulator doesn't accept this kind of controller, so i asking around if anyone has any recommendations

Here are my pcsx2 controller settings:

Try messing with enabling SDL, SDL Raw and Xinput. In all honesty there shouldn't be any issues with the default settings but it's not like changing them will make things worse so might as well give it a go.

EDIT - I came up with a silly idea since you mentioned Steam not having any issues. Try adding Pcsx2 to Steam and launching it from there.

Connect either USB or Bluetooth. I would connect via USB a lot easier.

do you know which Controller work best with PCSX2?
Like @Clippy said, anything that is Xinput should work. I buy cheap usb wired ones like this (I got this one for ~$10 during a sale), to avoid these headaches. I can verify this works otb with pcsx2 (I can only speak for the pcsx2 build on arch based linux distros), no problems.

The MSI one should just work too as far as I know. I really doubt the controller is the issue here.
Did you try to actually map the controls in the settings? I think it should be automatic in most cases but you might maybe have some other software messing with it or something.

just get a USB adapter for the ps2 controller? I use Bliss-Box because one adapter works with all OEM controllers. If you only care about ps2, maybe go cheap, but if you ever plan to use others, Bliss-Box is the way to go.

Interesting thread about game controllers. I’ve been switching between PC gaming and watching anime lately, and honestly having a comfy setup matters a lot. While checking controller fixes, I also stumbled on hianime.org.vc for some shows during breaks—pretty smooth experience.
