Game awards 2025

Did not watch. I have better things to do in my life than watch bunch of wankers sit and blow each other off.

Didnt see it yet, but what are the odds that they started to talk about stuff no one cares like if it was the best thing ever

Nope, but I’m still disappointed anyways . I just wanted Kingdom Hearts news but I got nothing

Still the Mega Man new game looks nice

I didn't watch it, besides the 2 awards ( maybe 3 ) I agree on the winners . The games announced I don't really care about most of them at least for now

Alot of the new trailers were fine, the promo for a new Divinity title was a stand-out. There were some small bits that got right under my skin though.

After a trailer for a reasonably cool looking game with a pop-punk soundtrack, it cut back to one of the hosts, and she read off the teleprompter: "Wow, if you aren't excited about that, then maybe you're the problem". And I just thought: Who was that for? Who was that supposed to land with? Who did they test that line on before including it in the show who was like "HAHAHAHA OH WOW great job guys, great line". Like wtf? Maybe that kind of stuff doesn't bother anyone else, but it completely soured my initial feelings towards the game they'd just been promoting.

hard to be disappointed when expectations are so low... at least for the actual awards section. They always try to raise it up but it always ends as a farce.

I guess there were a few cool announcements. New ace combat caught my interest as did a new megaman game.

The awards ceremony itself was fine. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 deserves a lot of appreciation and even Game of the Year, but I was a little surprised that Death Stranding 2 didn't win a single award.

As for game reveals, it's another story... It seemed like a lot of people online (that I could see) had high expectations and ~90% of what people mentioned wasn't revealed at TGA. So I'm sure a lot of people are walking away from this show simply feeling disappointed.

I didn't watch it but I did read people's reactions in the other thread that was just made like three days ago

I'm a bit out of the loop in general, so this is me genuinely asking and not a dig at anyone:
I've seen a few people say they were surprised Death Stranding 2 didn't win any awards.
Is that just because they expected Koijma in general to win something, or was DS2 actually really good?
Asking because I don't really hear or see many people talking about it. Feels like it just kinda came and went to me with little fanfare.

*for reference, I didn't watch the show and wasn't interested by any of the new announcements.

Is that just because they expected Koijma in general to win something, or was DS2 actually really good?

For me personally, I would have thought that Death Stranding 2 would've have at least won the award for Best Art Direction over Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, which is running on UE5 and looks the part.

Don't get me wrong, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a beautiful looking game and honestly it's not really a big deal to me because I'd argue that art is subjective.

It was exactly as it was every year, they try to make a big deal about the even, but end up feeling a bit lackluster. I actually though that it was a bit more interesting than past years at least

Every new game trailer was uninteresting, I couldn't care less about awards.

The only thing I've been asking for 5 years is: WHO IS PAYING THIS? This is not E3 anymore. E3 was organized by an Association of Game Publishers, when they decided the best games, they established the rules for the voting, whatever they were.

He who pays is in charge, and when he who pays these prizes, is hiding, it is because OBVIOUSLY the prizes are corrupt by nature. Are you really pretending to tell me, a simple guy who is nobody but is the only face of these deliberately presumptuous named awards... does the job in a "fair" manner?

Fuck you: DO THE JOB IN A CREDIBLE WAY.

And treat the awards as what they are: awards. Not a fucking excuse to scam people, including developers itself.

For my timezone, it went from 1:30-5 AM. Woke up at 4 and watched from there while also skimming through the stuff I've missed. Glad I've seen the Mega Man 12 reveal live. As a huge Mega Man fan it kinda made me walk away really happy.

Otherwise pretty uneventful. Bunch of games that look like slop or just uninteresting. Also E33 won pretty much everything as expected since nothing really came out this year. This was a really lackluster year in terms of game releases. Also Jeff and Kojima might have had a break up lol. Glad KCD2 and especially DS2 did not win anything.
