I still keep my dedicated emulators, but after being tired of MAME's confusing ROMset update and FINAL BURN NEO's UI being as bad, i had to swallow my pride and joint the RetroArch wagon, it was more like Arcade standalone emulation is awkard

After some tutorials i finally got all my arcade in a single place, no updating every single rom after every update, no pause being mapped to a button in the keyboard (FB NEO), no slowdown, no roms being silent or having bad audio, that's great

Granted, i only want to use it for Arcade games since the stand alone emulators works fine, so i feel like

Only thing i still doesn't get used is that A in arcade games is mapped by default to the bottom face buttons, since i usaully play A in left, B in bottom, C in right and D in Top, i will have to get used or learn to adjust Global bindings

But, MAME is necessity for some games. I've seen dudes retro-fit that shit to play Primal Rage 2 and Killer Instinct like nothing else can.

Plus, I head them bragging a couple weeks ago about being to more accurately emulate some new SEGA architecture, or something...

I had a similar experience with N64 emulation and Retroarch. I've rejected Retroarch in favor of standalone emulators since forever, but I've had better luck with it for N64 games then any other emulator on my mediocre PC, so I use it just for that now. :loldog

I really want to play Dungeons & Dragons Shadow over Mystara on Mame but cant that fooker to work on there.
Can anyone confirm it works on Retroarch? if so, does anyone mind dropping the core specifics e.t.c? that would be really handy.

I was literally just playing this game a couple hours ago haha
I use Final Burn Neo core via Retroarch and it works just fine

Late, but i believe they are in Saturn

Only thing i dont like about Retroarch is that PCSX2 is not updated to their lastest build because of some dumb drama going on with the devs of PCSX2 and Retroarch... i hate when they mix their problems with the emulation scene.

Glad Ducstation still works, for what i heard his creator tried to make a fuzz over license swaps annd threatened to kill support (AFAIK he already "Started" with Linux)

I just use Launchbox for MAME, and TeknoParrot for the stuff MAME can't handle.
TeknoParrot is fucking incredible in the sense I can play Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 6 on my laptop with a steering wheel, instead of finding the only arcade in a 2 hour radius that still has it.

mame is more convenient for peripherals like light guns, spinners and drive wheels.
Eg I can play Outrun with force Feedback enabled

I prefer Fireburn Neo for arcade games
Used it for a while too, but the pause button being unable to be mapped to a key and not even being mapped to a good one (The actual pause key) threw a curveball, not helped by not having a Global configuration to make Joystick gaming easiy

ROM file archive for MAME 0.229 yet worked within a MAME 2010 Core within RetroArch. FIRST TIME today ever use mame or run arcade IN RetroArch. Use RetroArch a lot today Saturn, PSX, PS2, Dreamcast, N64, ... Have used MAMEUI, formerly MAME32, nice frontend bundled MAME emulator, played DDSOM for years with MAME32/MAMEUI/MAME64, that one and the other Tower of Doom. Sometimes a rom won't work, it's made for an earlier or later version of MAME. I've had this happen a few times. These days I'll keep a whole set and not overwrite and mix an archive up, what a mess.

I just never update MAME. This way I never need to replace my roms.
It plays all the arcade games in my collection, so I'm set.
I think I'm still using 0.254

Well, gee, all those comments defending MAME made my post sound mean spirited... ow

I'm with you on the whole MAME stance, I gave it a fair shot, just prefer RetroArch like 100000% more.
