I just hit 1,000 games on Steam yesterday lol

However, I'm all for obtaining things in other ways. :) Some people think paying for video games is ridiculous, but I find the convenience and achievements worth it. But you'll never, ever catch me paying for Netflix, YouTube or for any kind of music streaming service.

I haven't bought a game since Red Dead Redemption on PS3.

I'm a GOG/Steam freebie sniper XD
Gotta say, I know not everyone is a fan of Epic, but I think I've bought 3 games on the platform and my library is currently 353 games. I generally buy my games on Steam and GoG, but even just downloading games available for free deals on Epic does support the developers, as they're still compensated. Not a bad deal imo!

100%, and beyond that I think we should support developers if it's in our ability. Doubly so for small and indie ones. Games should be available to everyone, and I fully believe in trying before you buy, but if we want to continue to see our favourite developers make their art, those who can afford to pay are enabling them to live and create.

Don't worry, I came to the realization last year that I should really stop buying games. Most of these are from steep sales and bundles tho, so I didn't spend that much all the time.

I guess people are just used to Steam and sometimes fail to grasp the positives Epic has. That said Epic exclusivity can hurt a game long run (happened with Rebel Galaxy Outlaw - wonderful game that didn't get nearly as much traction as it deserved).

as i flip through PS3 games i never finished,
then my almost 400 ps4 games most of which haven't been started, while i'm on my PS5

then i glance over at my emulator and roms folder on PC almost a TB of games from NES to Switch a huge chunk of which i've never started

and my steam library loaded with games i got on sale or humble bundle or similar deal sites. (only 263 games but it could be more if i had a better PC)
i should mention i play a LOT of JRPGs so... they aren't known to be short games usually.
and thanks to retrogametalk finding games from old days i never even heard of so that's growing bigger.

i was recently going through my PC to make space and i was compressing Roms and ISOs, but after almost 24 hours straight of "cleaning up" i just said... **** me i have a LOT OF GAMES

...and i sit here replaying mario kart 64 on it's PC port

::happyadvisorYeah, it usually happens to us all, on these situations I always remember an user from an abandonware site that had the title of "Abandonwaristic Diogenes Syndrome".

With the pass of time we collect games that interest us and we want to play them but could end up being too much and lacking the moment to play them.

The important thing is that we enjoy what we do at the moment and when we can.

Same, I'm constantly hunting for deals on games or looking for new bundles. r/GameDeals probably has cost me a couple thousand at this point. I really should just... stop buying video games. But I'm a digital hoarder. You could be worse things in the world, I guess.

Yes, I'm continually surprised that people shell out often exorbitant sums of money for games. I can understand it for collecting, I've spent quite a bit of money getting physical copies of certain retro games myself, but there are dozens of free titles that are just as good if not better than paid games- and none of them even try to milk you with microtransactions and pay2win BS. Cry of Fear, AWOL, No More Room In Hell, NIGHTRUNNERS PROLOGUE, Super Mario 64 DX, Sonic Galactic, The Last Monday- and if you count mods like the guy in the video did, you have stuff like Ashes 2063/Afterglow/Hard Reset, Shrine II, Reds Over World, Sonic Robo Blast, Slayer's Testaments, Arcane Dimensions, Alkaline, WH40K Ultimate Apocalypse and Unification... there is so much to choose from it baffles me why people spend so much money when it usually leads to deprivation and dissappointment.
