Pre-PS4 God of war games are not mainstream anymore since the only GoW before ps4 with a modern version is 3 (what the fuck, Sony) so they’re pretty niche these days cuz you’d only play them if you have a ps2, psp, ps3 or emulate. No other way.
This nicheness filters out the old hate. I feel GoW attracted the wrong kind of crowd. It’s a misconception that only Gowps4 and GowR are cinematic. They’re all cinamatic, but to different degrees. But people back in 2010s expected full cinamatic so they hated gow it’s a normal game and like gow4/r cuz it’s a movie.
I think people seldom talk about what’s in the game itself and just lump it with generic gow-clones which is confusing cuz I can understand those being boring but the GoW sixtology is very refined and well made.
