This Christmas I loaded my Retrobat PC with Cadillacs and Dinosaurs, Captain Commando, Knights of the Round, Sunset Riders, TMNT+Turtles in Time and both D&D games expecting some crazy 4 players arcade sessions but all I got was some cups of Mario Kart 8 with the kids on Cemu

Me too, it's my preferred method of combat!
I can play as any of the characters though. I'll even be Colette if no one else wants to; I learned to handle all the character's combos and perform cancelling techniques with everyone that can.

you must have had a manual when you played the game. i borrowed the game from a friend before i got my own copy on the ps3 and later on the switch. started my 4th playthrough when i accidently found that you can move around the battlefield in different directions.

Funny story.

I got my copy from a video rental store.

It was one of those, 'Played it for the entire rental period and did not want to give it back' type of situations.

The rental store couldn't continue to charge us late fees, because after a few months they closed down!

Unfortunately, I lost it when I was homeless.

that's one hell of a task to undergo over just the course of a rental. it took me a few weekends to beat the game.
which character did you go for to end up with lloyd? my first was going for sheena, but later i always beelined for raine.

Well, I beat the game before the rental period was up, but. I wanted to beat it at least 2 or 3 more times. >_>;
I'm now at around 50.

I chose Sheena, she was more my type than the others.. But after my first playthrough, I found out you could be characters other than Lloyd.
He ended up with Colette the first time, and that was when I discovered it had the whole FF7-type thing of indirectly choosing who to date. I love that. A game that promotes it's own shipping.

I still like Lloyd and Sheena as a couple, I think they balance each other nicely. Raine is.. Well, it's nice to think they could be together, despite age differences.

yeah, colette starts off with 550 affections points by default. everyone else, including lloyd, starts with zero. i think i was 13 or14 when i first played so sheena definitely held some appeal to me. i was the same with tifa when i played ff7; but unlike her, i still like sheena. she very well written and contributes to the plot quite a bit.
lloyd and raine are apparently the canon pairing from what is revealed in the sequel game.

I think Tifa and Sheena are like the sexy girl archetypes in their respective games, I don't know many people who didn't crush on them at some point.

it doesn't seem like it does anything; and if i remember correctly, it only gets affected by lloyd cooking.
yeah, they are the hot, busty babes of their respective games. i kept tifa in the spot that was the closest to the camera when the victory camera came swooping in for a closer look. playing crisis core definetly change that and made aerith my favorite babe from ff7. i don't care for tifa much if at all nowadays. i have a drawing on newgrounds with tifa in it along with etna from disgaea. i plan on adding some more drawings to go with the one i made.
sheena gets actual character development that isn't badly written and actually contributes to the plot. she doesn't have to be hot to get people to like her like tifa does.

Kinda doing my girl dirty there, but I get it..
If she was the more, realistic tomboy looking type, I don't think everyone and their grandson would have the hots for her over her fighting skill alone. >_>;;

I have wonderful memories of enjoying 4-player local multiplayer with friends all huddled around a 20ish something TV playing on the N64. And while Mario Kart 64, Smash Bros and GoldenEye were often played, there were some other gems that had really fun multiplayer modes, including:
Bomberman 64

Road Rash 64

Forsaken 64

i'll check into that. the only time that i ever did pick up the game was the nes demake. had most of the weapon and materia stuff maxed out before getting a third character.

hmm... seems interesting, but aerith seems unable to join in at the final dungeon. i might wait until the modder can fix that bit.
