Forza Motorsport (2023) won't get any new updates

As our team shifts its focus toward delivering the best possible experience with Forza Horizon 6 in 2026, we do not plan to introduce new cars, tracks, features, or regular bug fixes for Forza Motorsport.

This was the live service game that was supposed to last a long time. Now that the studio's been gutted and is essentially a Forza Horizon support studio, this looks to be the end of Forza Motorsport. It's also online only, so once they shut down the servers it'll be unplayable.

I'll move it to the racing forum, but I honestly think it fits just as well here.

Regardless... Everything about this is a bit dickish, but the "no bug fixes" part is specially egregious -- it used to be normal for studios to roll out final stability/bug-fixing patches before abandoning ship. Can't even have that anymore, huh? And then they wonder why millons went and signed the SKG initiative.

Welp at least i still have Forza Motorsport 1-4 on my Xbox and Xbox 360!
Meanwhile in GT7 they brought back the christmas music on the lobby for December and a week full of 5-6 star tickets!

It pains me that they screwed up once out of 8 games over almost 20 years and that's it for the franchise. Other than 2023, 5 was really the only other weak one. It was still good, just lacking compared to the other installments. Forza Motorsport 7 was the best one in the franchise, IMO.

i never played past 4 motorsport or horizon 2, i felt like they were just the red-haired stepchild in the shadows of other simul racing games like Gran Turismo or iRacing. I enjoyed Motorsport 1-4 those games are fantastic games, ill put them up there with my other favorite racing games like Project Gotham Racing.

I can't play it anyway since switching to Linux but considering I paid £90 for the deluxe edition only to be met with poor performance, bugs and a bland campaign I'm not happy. The only multiplayer was also terrible so I'm disappointed, I've got 100s of hours in Forza Motorsport 7 online and was hoping for the same from the new one but nevermind eh...?
