Forgotten Multiplayer Games that are still playable

I don't know if it's still the case, but there were still some Jedi Academy servers open a few years ago.

Not sure if forgotten but Worms Armageddon was absolutely thriving the last time I checked.

There's also the remakes of old Disney MMOs like Toontown Online (Toontown Rewritten) or Pirates of the Caribbean Online (The Legend of Pirates Online) which were peak IMO (disclaimer: my age was in the single digits when I played these so YMMV)

There are many others I've tried but I'm drawing a blank rn

There's a surprising amount of internet-based MUDs (and other formats of oldschool MMORPG games) that you can play for free right now and that still have a relatively strong userbase. Some are recent, some have been online for a long while.

I haven't had the guts to try any of them out yet, but I'll get to it someday.

^ seconding MUDs
Tried Aardwolf back in '14, had a pleasant time playing it on the go on my old Motorola clunker. Only left because I ran into a bug that wouldn't let me progress, but I guess after 11 years it will have been fixed, I hope.
There's also a MUD based on Discworld, which was also recommended back then
Those games will run on any device that supports telnet (I mean, technically they're not running on your device)

Unreal tournament (1999) & 2004

While UT99 needs some patching here and there , UT2004 run still flawlessly . With mods , its still peak Multiplayer gaming and will never be outdated . And the Bots are really good even with todays standards .

Conker Live&Reloaded (Xbox)

The Multiplayer of it is acdtually pretty badass . Its still playable offline with bots but the level up mechanics dont work with it . Its underrated and had a good number of maps too .

Mechassault (Xbox)

While the singleplayer was awesome , the muiltiplayer still kicks-ass with bots . This series was extremly underrated .

MetalGearOnline 2, the one that came with MGS4. It's still playable (on both PC and PS3) and the community at SaveMGO have also added new items and updates.
Now I'm tempted to look up if the Metal Gear Online that came with MGS3 is still a thing. I only ever played the online mode of MGS5 for about a week before I forgot about it.
I learned that there was a game called Habbo Hotel that seems to still have players, though I just heard of the game yesterday.
I only heard of the "game" when Slopes Game Room covered all of the controversies/scandals from it. Was more of a social platform/pixelated chat room. Apparently with how big it got I'm surprised I never heard of it before until I saw that youtube video.
one that really surprised me was Street Fighter 3 Online Edition on ps3, i can still regularly find people to fight... when i bother to sign in to my psn account. it is a really good version of the game, so i guess it's not that surprising, but still.
That somewhat makes me want to boot up my ps3 and find a match, even though more than likely I would get wrecked with how out of practice I am and was only ever decent when I played it in the first place. I still remember when someone rage messaged me after I beat them as Yang that all I did was kick and nothing else :P

I have wanted to try the fan revived version of Warhammer Fantasy Online but never commit. I would love to try the ps2 .hack game online and connecting the gamecube PSO game online. I looked into PSO BB briefly and made an account and was able to log into one of the servers. But then never went any farther then that.

The SaveMGO community also have worked on keeping the original MGO1 from MGS3 alive as well as the online for Peace Walker. Their discord has a lot of good info (that I wish were on the site).

Last year I've played Demon's Soul on RPCS3 with settings for The Archstones server. Guys there were still pretty active. And I've beaten the game in the most boring way with a priest abusing second chance. EZ GG.

You can still play Laser Arena online:

Never thought I'd find anyone else who knew about this one! Played it as a kid a lot and used the arrow keys to aim because it was still the 90s.

Another forgotten PC game you can still play is MEDAL OF HONOR: ALLIED ASSAULT, though it requires a fan patch to access the servers. It's almost dead??? Most servers are empty, but they're still being hosted somewhere and somehow and there's still maybe three or four servers with people still stubbornly playing.
