what did I say here I just said that a CEO of a Large Company is far to busy normally to do stuff themselves, that is why they have Managers to it for them that is just a normal thing Companies do.I never said anything about Capitalism bad so please don't put words into my mouth. The term they count there Money was just about them having a large amount of Money and being money oriented
Fair enough, I guess. But I'm jumping out of this discussion now. I agree that eulas could be reworked, but the general tone about business in general seems misguided.

You are being very selective with "the early days" because you name Doom but then I could name Ultima and other games in those "early days" that had financial/publisher troubles regardless. Were they not passionate enough? These shouen anime motivational words don't equate to the real world.
You could say that to about many Things.I just wanted to make a point that there where Developers back then that where actual Gamers that actually liked there Job.I never said it was easy or a piece of cake.It just was more common that a Actual gamer produced and published his own game unlike nowadays, sure even than there those problems but I mean compared to now where most of Gaming is in the Hand of Big Companies.
I mean yeah, 40 years ago there wasn't an industry.
That is what I meant by that, unlike today where i is completely in the Hands of big Companies nowadays back then there where many small companies often made out of actual Gamers.

Not to stray off topic: EULA's are very invasive to me. If the game features are very intricate multiplayer/crossplay component then I can understand since my information/account is now being handled by a third party but when it comes to single player games I'm like "is this really necessary"

Shouldn't all of this be handled by the console manufacturer? like what Apple and Android do for their apps.

Also they put all those unnecessary restrictions and blame on the users, usually violating consumer rights and other laws.
They excuse themselves of anything and abuse their position.
They reserve their right to change the terms whenever and whatever they like.
They don't meet their commitments.
Also they encourage gambling and addiction.

And lately there's a wave of games, that collect your info for selling, install spyware or other things.

Oh but users are bad because they do unauthorized things.
Like modding, or trying to fix the games that they don't. Or crack their DRM or clean the game of their "malware".

In conclusion, EULAs aren't useful, they only harm users.
If a company wants to protect their rights, they have a ton of laws of copyright.

In my opinion the only enemy of gaming companies are the mismanagement, ignorance, lack of vision and bad faith that are in some of them and other companies.

If people like what they do and can buy it they will.

This is from ignorance, though. I've never really cared enough to look into it, but I tend to not do anything "out of line" with the games I buy anyway, especially in online games that seem have the most user agreements and contracts etc, so I guess I don't see it as "my battle" or whatever.

Not entirely related, but speaking as a creator, I want to both publish my own games on storefronts so that people can buy them if they want, and make a free torrent for them, and I want people to be able to mod the game if they wish. I wouldn't want to bog them down with a bunch of clauses telling them they can't cheat or whatever.

it's like
ok you bought our products (switch 2) but the console is not yours, you only rent when you tried to tamper our product we can easily brick your console

Well that's something more difficult to assess for me.
On one hand I understand that jailbreaking a current console and pirating the games makes them lose money, but people should have right to repair or modify their console and do what they want with what they buy under some circunstances.

It is really stupid and kind of illegal imo, not only on the software levels, but also on many other devices as well.

"Oh no, I dont accept this EULA! I want my Iphone as an expensive brink pls".

And the worse thing that is happening is companies changing these EULA and TOS after purchase. Iirc, there was an issue a couple of weeks about with Borderlands 2 changing one of these 2 and forcing it into their users.
