You know how it is...

You are watching something you like - whether it is a cartoon, anime, movie or TV show - and enjoying it thoroughly... but then, inevitably, you come across a decision so bold, so utterly nonsensical, so devoid of logic even within its own world that you just KNOW you have just reached a badly-implemented (and undisguised) plot device.

What are some of your favorite examples of this sort of thing?

Mine are these beautiful disasters:

- In one of the Harry Potter movies, Ron's wand gets damaged to the point of malfunctioning and no-one does anything about it, even though it could very much kill him or anyone around him.

- In "Major", Goro is vanished to the minors after his MLB debut turns disastrous — guy gave up two runs in seven innings of work, after all (one of which was against the very best player in all of baseball). Truly a dismal performance.

- A police station's armory is left untouched and for Rick to find several weeks into the outbreak in "The Walking Dead". Just like that.

In horror movies when there’s a noise and people yell out “hello? Anyone there?” and proceed to investigate then usually die or come close to it.

Any rational human being is not gonna investigate, it’s out the door and calling the police.

Eating a caterpillar suddenly makes Legoshi really tough in Beastars. I think it’s symbolic and supposed to be about how consuming life when he was previously too afraid to makes him stronger both physically and mentally, but taking it at face value makes the scene a little comedic and somewhat nonsensical.

Mr.incredible should have automatically send buddy to the police station when that kid first appeared, but nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo he keep trespassing into his rescues every single time!!! which is why the first and second movie came out.

In a nut-shell... no one won't ever bother calling the police nobody's going to believe it.

Spoiler: I know it's 2026, but if you haven't seen "Goodfellas", don't click this.

In Goodfellas, De Niro is trying to lure annoying-ass Lorraine Bracco into an almost-empty shop; with the implied intent that she'd get whacked if she goes inside. He does this after Ray Liotta is arrested, since De Niro and Paulie both know he will likely snitch and do everything he can to escape his drug charges.

However, Lorraine gets to live, since she got spooked and made up some excuse to leave. You know, since not entering an obvious trap is all it takes to not get murdered by The Mafia, **EVEN THOUGH WE'VE SPENT THE ENTIRE MOVIE WATCHING MOB HITS**.

Using this logic, Joe Pesci would've lived if he didn't go in that last room of that house
