Was wondering if it might be worth adding another section to "other interests" for food & cooking related discussions? ::thinking

If the time/financial cost of implementing one would outweigh its usefulness, that's cool. Just a suggestion ::chocobo-wave
 
We have had quite a few topics about those things in here... So, maybe? I certainly wouldn't be against it.

My only concern would be ending up on a "ForumJar" situation: tons of sections for a couple of topics each, but who knows? If enough folk support this, I'd be willing to give it a go.

(On a serious note, that's probably another good reason to have a cooking section—to teach)
 
If everyone actually posted recipes or food related stuff, it could work and not turn into a meme thread or an innuendo laden thread along the lines of "Yeah, I'd like to give her my carrot" or the like.

It would probably do pretty well. I'm sure a lot of people here, since most if not all of us have at one time come up with some outlandish concoction that turned out really good. It would be kind of interesting to see custom gamer recipes, honestly.

Yeah frankly true however if we are going to make a forum about food,meals and cooking we need to think about health and safety with it after all iam allergic to seafood.

Well, I think reading the ingredients would let you know if you can or can't eat something with a recipe.

And we all know it will turn into something like this.

I don't think we'd need to take more precautions than the average recipe website. As long as all ingredients are listed for users to browse, we should be good

Stir-Fried Chicken and Vegetables

Difficulty: 2/10
ALLERGIE WARNINGS: !!Peanut oil!!

Ingredients:​

2 tablespoons peanut oil
1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breast, sliced into thin strips
2 cups mixed vegetables (bell peppers, broccoli, carrots)
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
Cooked rice or noodles (for serving)

Instructions:​

1 - Heat the peanut oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.

2 - Add the chicken strips and cook until browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and set aside.

3 - In the same skillet, add the garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

4 - Add the mixed vegetables and stir-fry for about 3-5 minutes until tender-crisp.

5 - Return the chicken to the skillet. Add soy sauce and sesame oil if using. Stir well to combine.

6 - Season with salt and pepper to taste.

7 - Serve hot over cooked rice or noodles.

Again, it says right in the ingredient list "Peanut oil" and I think if you were allergic to peanuts, you would have enough common sense to not eat it or substitute another oil.

Recipe calls for it. What gives it the flavor...

You could use olive oil I suppose. It would taste different, but still be good.
Like myself, I can't eat mushrooms, period.

So anytime something calls for that, I substitute broccoli for it.

You can always leave out or Substitute something if you can't eat it or don't like it
 
hmmmmm that's out of the blue, but you know my seafood allergy used to be so wired that i couldn't eat eggs at my childhood. what's gonna happen to you if you eat mushrooms? im concerned.
I make sure that anything I buy doesn't contain mushrooms, and if I eat mushrooms, I could go into anaphylaxis

You could use olive oil I suppose.
You shouldn't use olive oil for a stir-fry or anything with sustained high temperatures, it breaks down. I guess if you are really skilled and manage the heat you can make that work and still get that flavor out of it, as I have seen some chefs use it on the stove for some things, but that's why I pretty much only use peanut oil: I'm lazy as fuck and peanut oil can take the highest of temperatures with its smoke point.

idk, that's always what I have been told: not to pan fry with olive oil.
