I wonder for fighting games if the connection through DCNet would be better than something like fightcade. I couldn't find what kind of netcode it used, maybe delay based?::thinking

Doesn't seem to want to install on my Retroid Pocket Mini; I'll debug this later but being able to hide screen controls is a must.

@Waffles

this is in the wrong subform, please move it over to sega talk
No, actually, we are discussing the emulator itself, not the console it emulates nor its games.

Thanks for helping, though.

The emulator is having a good advance and soon we will have the possibility to emulate the Hikaru board but with less requirements unlike Demul and also to correct other graphic errors without the need to put it in per pixel mode (although it reduces graphical errors but at the same time sacrifices some speed).

So far this is my choice EMU for Dreamcast. Use to be demul :-p
My choice too, I like how it places the VMU to the left of the screen in the black bars instead of covering a part of the game screen so that's the main reason I switched. Used to be redream to be honest but I'm finding Flycast MUCH better.

i downloaded 2.5 and the box art in the in game list is totally gone, did not find a way to make them work again

edit: never mind, i just deleted a .json file in the boxart folder and opened the emulator again. them it worked

I thought Flying Head wasn't interested in Hikaru emulation. Do you have more information?

I should start emulating DC games again lol, I used to use a really old redream build 3 years ago but it's amazing to see flycast improving.

I assume so. This feels like it would be recreation service for DreamCast online games akin to Insignia for Xbox, or pretendo for past generation Nintendo systems. So the netcode would be the same as the games originally have. Even with it's slight diminishing qualities when comapared to implementation on other emulators on Fightcade, Flycast Dojo is quite likely still best way to play fighting games with anohter person, and is able to support wider range of local-co-op games as my guess about DCNet would be that it is for games that had online services of some kind originally. Minus Phantasy Star Online, maybe DCnet would have forwarding to existing PSO servers like Insignia does, at tops, but PSO has had it's own community supporting it's versions regardless if there is other infrastructure around it, minus xbox since live was so baked in to that version of the game.

The only emulator I know that emulates Hikaru is DEmul, I believe MAME is still working on Naomi, Hikaru, & Atomiswave.
Yeah, I know, I tried emulating NASCAR Arcade in Demul and it was an experience... The game kinda runs well-ish but the music is bugged and I want to play that game because of the music ;.;
