I think 'nezticle/nesticle' is a LOT closer to 'testicle' than 'EN-EE-ESS-ticle' - but if your doctor hasn't corrected you at the clinic you probably don't need to worry.

I do remember attempting to run NESticle emulator on Windows 3.1.

It wasn't a play on words combining Tickle and N.E.S.?

ESticle offered its initial release as NESticle v0.2 on April 3, 1997. Its name is a portmanteau of "NES" (the console it emulates) and "testicle".

The program originally ran under DOS and Windows 95, offering few features and only supporting a handful of games. It was one of the first freeware NES emulators, and soon became more popular than shareware rivals such as iNES.

NESticle was coded in C++ and assembly using Microsoft Visual C++ 4.10. Part of the emulator's appeal was performance: its system requirements capped at around 25MHz[4] enabling it to run on modest Pentium and 486 DX2 PCs.

Over here it was either called simply "Nintendo" or "Nintendo 8-bits" but in my language.
I've always said "nés" and "snés" with an E that's sort of impossible to pronounce in the anglo tongue.

Edit: Actually, it's present in english in the middle parts of the words "dear" and "smear".

Heh suddenly reminded. There was this funny skit on the radio of a teacher in a classroom talking to the kids about their summer vacation trip to New York.

Student: "And so we went to the empire state building, and to the park and this and that.. But THEN we went to the UN building..."

I don't remember the whole skit and only heard it briefly in 1990's, but it went something like that.

It was only ever called a Nintendo where I grew up. Ditto with the Super Nintendo.
I did hear the terms nes and snes (pronounced as abbreviations) relatively early on when I asked my older brother what systems the Final Fantasies before VII were released on because you know Pal region, but it was super rare to hear the consoles being referred to in that way and to this day (Super) Nintendo is the most common way to call them.

ive always pronounced each letter for NES, but SNES is a little more variable. sometimes i pronounce is like "sness", sometimes i pronounce each letter, and sometimes i call it the super nintendo.
