First gaming device/console?

Ah, well, if that counts then I guess before the SMS I had some sort of portable with 1000 variants of Tetris or something? it's all very vague now.

Super Nintendo, my grandfather's best Christmas present in 1994. That year I also remember the World Cup in the USA, in which Brazil won the title

Just journaling and am curious what devices users owned first. I believe I played some version of Pac-Man: World on a couple different floppy disks (thanks Dad) but one holiday I got a SNES and Donkey Kong Country 2. I think my next game was Super Empire Strikes Back. Needless to say, I didn't beat either of those games until much later.

How about you all?
Mine was a wii connected to a biggass crt tv i believe

Even though it was 90's, NES. Likely because it was old and thus cheap, but screwed up with my understanding of early video game history. I only years later realized I had different consoles later than they came out, even though we did get a PS1 while it was a relevant console, it was still few years into it's life.

It was a NES and a SEGA system. My younger brother had a roll of tacky 90s wood grain wallpaper that he put on everything, guitar, shelves, and he also covered that NES in it ?

Atari 2600, still have it, but it's packed away in storage. I haven't used it in 10 years, sadly, so not sure if it still works.

Those were super common here, feels like any traction Mega Drive had here happened only after the model 2 came out since I see very rarely model 1's and they feel like modern imports or finds by collectors of past decade and not actual sales in 90's. It is insane also that the console became so popular it had translations of the instruction booklets to obscure nordic languages and some games had different variation to their boxes in Sweden/Finland likely because the older style of boxes likely resonated better than the new style they started pushing with Sonic 3. That is to say, I cannot personally agree with the slight hate Model 2 gets because I would not have played all that Sonic 2 at friends and cousins if it was not for it.

I always thought the model 2 looked better than the model one. It looks more sleek and less bulky.

i love my ps1! i only had like two games for it, Digimon World and the first disc of Chrono Cross. but it was still a really fantastic time. i used to go down the elevator at the start of chrono cross over and over to see all the funny guys you could get.
I have heard Digimon World is quite the game. I imagine that was a wild introduction to gaming.

Atari 2600 in 1979, my parents bought it for the house when my sister was 5 and I was 2. Played that all the way up to the SNES. I didn't get the original NES until I was a little older and bought it myself used. We ended up giving the 2600 away at some point but I have every console I have ever owned still with me.

As much as I loved the PS3/XB360 era of games, nothing beats the cartridge era of NES, Master System, Genesis, SNES, and even the NEC TurboGrafx. Outside of a handful of current games that I enjoy, I could do without just about everything beyond the early to mid 1990's 16-bit systems. Yeah, PS2 was cool as was Dreamcast but to me there were only a couple of games that I was really captivated by on those consoles.

I had a Faimclone in the shape of a SNES and a relative also had an actual SNES so that was a bit confusing lol.

My mom´s old game boy, I used to love playing super mario land 2 and the roger rabbit game :p

I got an NES for christmas in 1986. I actually asked my parents for a "Nelda" because i couldn't figure out what it was called. I just saw that Legend of Zelda commercial where he is going around saying "Zelda" over and over, and I couldn't really read the word "Nintendo," but obviously it started with the letter "N," so i figured he must have actually been saying "Nelda". Fortunately, they figured it out. but they bought Top Gun as a second game... (and not LOZ, derp)

The first console I owned was the Sony Playstation. It was given to me as a gift. I didn't even have to ask (spoiled I know) I missed out on Final Fantasy and a lot of games. I got it late in the system's life though like 1999 or 98 I think

I played all the Digimon games on it. I had other games we got used I did not understand a lot of them and couldn't get far.

I owned :

Small Soldiers
A Bug's Life
Command and Conquer Red Alert
Crash Bandicoot 1
Spyro 1
Digimon World
Digimon World 2
Digimon World 3
Digimon Rumble Arena
Tomba! (Wish I didn't sell it as I liked the art but was unsure what to do).
Star Wars Jedi Power Battles (fun co-op)
Boombots

I rented Megaman 8 a lot but never beat it.

The one at 6:13. Mine was all black though. Bought second hand family as poor as shit back then. The picture sucked worse than what that video showed.
Yeah, I saw that video and it was fascinating though made sense somewhat technologically. I have never seen a pong console in my life, personally. Could be they had not as much market in Europe/parts of Europe.

A Sega Mega Drive III (a revision of the Brazilian/European Genesis) bundled with Street Fighter 2 Champion Edition hand-me-down from a cousin when I was 5.

I got it with Street Fighter II Champion Edition, Mortal Kombat 3, Altered Beast and some other games I can't remember. Unfortunetly I was so young I hardly knew how to properly play it.

The first console I bought with "my money", fully knowing what a video game was, was an kiwi Nindendo 64
