Allright as an RPG fans you guys should know this trope that undead gets damage when you tried to heal them and when you're reviving them most of the time it'll be a one hit k.o. But what i wanna talk is when you guys found out about this what did you feel.

As for myself i first experienced it when i was fighting Scarmiglione (i literally googled this name lol) since my party was badly hurted and i wasn't ready fighting againts a boss with freaking 2nd phase so at that time i panicked and accidentally healed the boss. i'm so surprised when instead of get healed that guy got white nomber which is a damage. (And as a matter of fact english wasn't really my first language so i completed this game without fully understanding all the dialogue in this game and i just remember the experiences)

I know about this from divinity original sin 2 but have never played an RPG for long enough to personally encounter this situation lol

I thought it was great. Using a Pheonix Down to one-shot undead enemies in Final Fantasy? Awesome.

My favorite was casting Zombie on the final boss of FF9 and killing them by casting Life.
And it actually makes sense, narratively speaking, that Life overcame death.

I found out it was a thing in Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, specifically the Prof in Trouble mission where you help Auggie take care of some zombies and ice flans. If I recall correctly, he can use a potion on one of the zombies to harm it.

It absolutely blew my mind that healing an undead hurt it, though it made sense in hindsight.

Stuck in iifa tree in Final Fantasy IX as a kiddo. Whine to friend about it. "You can just phoenix down the fucker."
Me when it worked.

My first rpg (and one of my first videogame) has been ff8, when I told my classmates I had bought it one of them lent me the official guide, so I learnt it there, there was an undead boss and the guide recommended to kill it with potions. Then I remembered it in the other FFs (now I'm not sure if I encountered this mechanic in other rpgs as well).

Lufia 2 (SNES)

It was my first RPG, and a control mistake (blame my sweaty, oily hands) led to me healing a skelly which promptly died

Tried it on my 4th RPG, FF "3" (FFVI), and the same mechanic existed; I assumed that all JRPGs do so as well, which helped me a lot, especially in FFT (PSX)

My first time experiencing this glory was during FFX.

There's a section when you only have control over the swimming characters (Rikku, Tidus & Wakka) and you have to face this decently powerful zombie fish boss. I remember thinking I was a bit screwed because at the time the only one I had been training who was a swimmer was Tidus (biiig mistake), but I got away with it by using a single phoenix down.

Literally couldn't believe how easy it was.

Oh damn your auggie did that? Mine literally go and melee the zombie i don't even know why.

Makes me lose like 3 hours of progress.

I can remember the first time as I played so man rpgs over the years. So it could be any game back in the 90s. Only game i remember clearly doing it is Ragnarok online as leveling a priest class hunting undead´s in glast heim and then later hunting Anubis in the floor 4 and 5 of the Sphinx.

I wish I could remember first time but im not sure if it a final fantasy game or Phantasy star game or even if it was so late I did it in Diablo or such.

So yeah the clearest memory I have is Ragnarok online.

Hm... interesting topic. I think the earliest I can recall was on Final Fantasy 4, though I can't rightly pinpoint if it happened during the climb or when the party was fighting Scarmiglione.

on the early year whe i was playing ragnarok online and i was playing an acolyte class, my friend told me you can cast heal on every "undead" type of mobs to kill and get exp since acolyte skill mostly is for support

To be frank it was a break.

ff9: hey pretty sure that most monsters in the game are hard as shit so here's a relaxing break for ya.
zombies: can get healed by white magic
zombies: gets slain by white magic

Exact same thing for me.

Yeah right buddy
As if I could just dig up some memory from 33 years ago

But I'll tell you one thing; I was surprised to learn recently that I tried making a Zombie Oracle in Final Fantasy Tactics, made him wear the cursed ring and gave him White Magic as a secondary; he can still heal himself in a variety of ways, one of which being the Drain spell. That class is so underrated and underutilized. ::eggmanlaugh

First time was when I was playing an Acolyte in Ragnarok Online.
Acolytes are a support class with little to no offensive capabilities and are very party dependent to level in most maps but are really strong against undead by "healbombing" them. You can actually solo some mid to high level maps early on if you know what you are doing.

After that, every RPG I play I always try to heal undead enemies

Who knows, when i first experienced healing an undead. I do it in every RPG game i play, as long as i remember.

It was in FF6. I tried casting Vanish + Doom on a boss and found it didn't work. Tossed a Fenix/Phoenix Down and he went down. Think it was the Behemoth King's second form if my memory is correct.

Did that in FFX with the main antagonist. I was underleveled, ans getting beat and got him killed. Ha ha

The concept was introduced to me when I was learning to play table-top RPGs and not in video games. Thankfully it worked well in Final Fantasy.

FF6 phantom train dies in one single phoenix down was the first i remember
but.. then you miss doing this awesome skill!
