Just finished Persona 2: Innocent Sin, and I could not put it down!! The story was so good, and it's a shame no one talks about it. I'm about to start Eternal Punishment. What are your guys' opinions on it?

Hell yeah!
I'm kinda hoping for some ports of those first three Persona games to modern platforms. I understand they are pretty different to what Persona has become, but they should really be more available than they are!

Yesssss, they should!! I prefer the vibe of the older Persona games to the newer ones

Amazing sequel. Have fun!
Thank you!! I'm really excited to play it

Eternal Punishment is peak! Persona 2 Eternal Punishment is by far my favorite game in the Persona series. The only game in the series that resonated with me.

You started Persona series but not from Persona 1?

I am thou, thou art I. Cleanse this ugly reality with the radiance of your beautiful soul, Motaritilvistar!!! Personaaaaa!!1 lol *he also performs hip-hop dance and sings badly to make you run away* lol.

What is shame is people ignore Persona 1 and talk about 2nd instead. I don't think you are actually aware what kind of situation Persona series are in. Still you may start from any Persona game, yet Persona 1 is underestimated a lot. This is not GTA, it's Persona. It may be 1st game but it doesn't mean it lacks features or something. On the contrary Persona 1 is the "real deal Persona game" that other games lacks the features:

- Only in Persona 1 you can scare off monsters by badly singing and hip-hop dancing lolol.

- Only in Persona 1 you may enjoy 2 different stories that makes the game actually 2 games in 1 while later games are linear. Persona 1 is the only "choices matters game" in the series while others are more about game over flags.

- Only in Persona 1 combat is grid based. It allows more strategic and tactical decision to place your party members in battle area. For example party member A has low HP and long range attacker so place them behind 2 people as shield.

- Only in Persona 1 party members can use multiple personas.

- Only in Persona 1 you may co-op attack with party members randomly.

- In Persona 1 your party can use guns which was brought back to Persona 5.

- Persona 1 doesn't have "social life BS" nor time limit BS.

- It may be taste matter but only in Persona 1 you may experience really serious story in a serious game, that has FPS dungeon exploration and more traditional JRPG dungeons with random encounters.

After Persona 1 playing later games felt like I was playing Fallout New Vegas but later games are Super Mario lolol.

Yeah, the first couple of Persona games still felt more like Shin Megami Tensei games, instead of what they are today.

It is a bit weird that both Persona & Fallout changed pretty drastically with their 3rd games!

I like both forms of Persona. The older SMT style, and the more modern dating sim I guess you'd call it? :loldog

I consider each Persona games their "own" thing so I like them in their context. I do really appreciate the variety they all bring to the table.

I definitely feel that each have their own vibe. 3, 4 & 5 are similar in gameplay, but I think they all manage to feel different enough. Especially through the soundtrack.
Persona is G.O.A.T.E.D, you're gonna enjoy it.
I know what G.O.A.T stands for, but what is the E.D? ::thinking:loldog

I do want to play p1 but I was told there was a character in p2 inspired by visual kei and I had to play it

Sure. No problem. But people tend to ignore Persona 1 by either skipping to the 2nd or 3rd game when it's a game that shouldn't be underestimated at all. Just sayin'. Personally I will always think Persona 1 is the best in the series until a better one comes that has more than what Persona 1 have.

Persona 1 doesn't have Lisa Silverman or her theme music so why should I play it /s

It is pretty different to the rest of the franchise, but Persona 1 is great in its own right. It was my go to game for long train rides and having time to kill like 10 years ago. I have the digital version on my Vita.

Nice, I also started the series for the first time a couple years ago, still have to play p1 and p2 though.

Sure, each game in the series is different in a good way in its own context. Perhaps for many series you can skip the first 2 games especially because "they lack features" and whatnot but for me Persona 1 has the most of the features that matter to me that other games in the series lacks. When you play Persona 1 you are like "no way dude! the developers really gone extra extra planet length way to develop this game and it's like 2 games in 1" while other Persona games more like "lazy anime shit visual novels that try to act like a SMT game but they gone for dating simulator" lol, and because of this even when a person played most of the games video game industry had to offer and had finally played Persona 1 now they would be like "dude why other JRPGs is not like this? This game is so refreshing there is nothing like this at all!!!". Except for its ancient gameplay regarding navigation around the map Persona 1 is still a fresh game that was beyond of its time, it's still beyond of today, perhaps because of it they made rest of the Persona games so "backwards" to befit to the usual gamer profile that they care more about virtual dating than actually playing a game lol. Persona 1 can be even added to "must play JRPGs" list because what it does is very unique for the JRPG genre. Anyone who plays JRPGs but doesn't play Persona 1 is missing a lot like how any man who never ate pork buns can't be fully a whole man!!! lolol
