Finally managed to get myself a Sega Game Gear from CEX after trading in my PS4 and PS1 (decided to trade those in as I rarely played those), and I've been having a lot of fun with it! Currently have Global Gladiators and Shinobi but plan to get a flashcart so I can play any game I want off an SD card. Also might get a USB power cable, although it is a US VA1 so I will need to get the right power adapter for it (centre negative instead of the European version's centre negative), but eBay should have what I'm looking for. I've checked inside and it's luckily already been recapped, and also has a new screen lens, likely a glass one. If the thread needs to be relocated be my guest!

"Global Gladiator" is so underrated.

Aaahh... great memories!
Have fun! (y)
(BUT -1000 points for giving away the PS1 😝)

"Strange that 1 is to jump and 2 is to fire..."
Yeah, I hate it when Master System & Game Gear platformers do that. It just messes with your muscle memory.

Nice! Seems like a pretty steep price for it, though... But more power to you for not even hesitating.

don't leave it on pause for more then 30 minutes. or you will get the black line on top of the screen and it stay's there for good.

Yea it was pretty steep, but at the same time most of it was paid for via in store credit and mum paid the rest. Bit sad I did away with my PS1 but I'd say at least I got something I've been yearning for for what felt like ages out of it. I do also have a PS2 although it doesn't work atm, hope to send it off for repair at some point.

Does this happen with a specific game or is it just a problem with the system in general?

One of my main motivations for getting a Game Gear was I wanted to originally get a Master System, but realised space in my room could be a problem, so I ended up getting a Game Gear, which with an adapter (or just a flashcart which I plan to get) can play SMS games alongside its own library. That and the Sailor Moon S game which I enjoyed from my experience in an emulator, even if some parts were rage inducing.
